Bound to happen.......

I guess it was bound to happen but I received my first speeding ticket last night in the G. Almost two years to taking delivery. Happy anniversary eh? What frustrates me the most is how it happened. The posted limit fluctuates between 70-80 for the most part, and where I was busted, it dropped down to 60. It was on a rural road and where the posted sign changes to 60 and to where the cop was sitting (at the bottom of a hill), it's not a lot of time to adjust your speed besides putting on the brakes. I know that sounds silly but who really puts the brakes on when a speed limit decreases. Most people would coast down to the limit or at least I do. I was clocked at 96Km/H. I guess my question is, is this worth fighting for?

Welcome bro.......wish it could have been under happier circumstances tho.

If it were my ticket, I would fight it (ticketbusters or POINTTS).

I don't get it, you were speeding regardless of the change in the posted speed limit. I can see from a police officer's perspective that you were not likely going to adjust to 60. You can probably plead the ticket down to a lesser offense, but I doubt you will get out of it completely.

Bobeh - that's a tough one...
Some of those rural roads are bad for speed changes...
There's one that I travel, that goes 80 -> 40 -> 60 -> 80 in one short stretch.
Other than a few more houses in one section, there's really no difference.
Needless to say, the popo sit in that 40 zone all the time.

I didnt actually see the 60Km/H sign. Not making excuses but i would have at least let off the gas.

I think I will attempt to fight this in court. Thanks guys.....

As Christian says, you may git it reduced, but you won't likely get it eliminated.

Fight it ! And don't bother hiring anyone.

All you need to do is show up at the court date before the session starts and ask the crown to cut a deal. I've done this numerous times and it has never failed. They are willing to lower the points/fines in order not to spend the time with you going up and pleading your case.

That's all the guys from Points do..and they charge you an arm and a leg.

40km??? Does the road go through a parking lot?

I've never seen speed limits that low other than in a school zone around here.

In the states on the way to the Adirondacks we 20mph zones all over smaller towns.

^+1 I haven't done this but it sounds like a decent plan. The worst outcome is you're left with the same fine you started with.

Sounds impossible doesn't it Deane, but there is one little town near here that I can think of - the town of Erin, whose general speed limit is a rediculous 40kph!......
I don't think they like visitors since most will detour that place....

I guess I'm just not used to seeing that. We don't have limits below 50km in NS that I've ever seen unless for construction or school zones.

I forgot about it until our recent trip through many of those small towns in Maine. Putting along at 20 mph on the main thoroughfare where it wasn't busy with people or cars seemed overly cautious. it seemed even worse after crusing at warp speeds on the highways into town.

Dunno if it has changed recently, but I used to be a regular customer at POINTS and 100% of the time I had my ticket dropped completely. They must have won at least 7-8 tickets ranging from 20-50 over.
