Hello Guys! - from a new G35 owner

Hello Guys,

I just bought a 2004 G35 Couple Black/Black with Navigation system, 18" rims, and rear spoiler for CAD $29,500 (USD $ 26,301.95)

It has 88000km on it (54 680 miles)

Since I am literally a car-illiterate when it comes to cars.. can anybody here tell me if this is a good deal or a total scam?!?!?..

also.. is there anything that i should pay attention to when i pick up the car on Friday this week??

I am sure i'd I will be coming to this site a lot more often in the foreseeable future.....

any input is much appreciated...

hmm Tranny, pop the hood up check for new hose etc or new equipments if so there might be major damaged to the car and they replaced all the stuff. Not always true. Run your hand lightly through the body see if there is an inconsistant feel of paint, if so most likely repainted at that section.

Thumbs up

I bought mine last month for around $36000, about half your kilometres and an 05. I think your purchase was fair, not a huge bargain but not bad either. Did you talk the guy down at all? Enjoy the new ride..i know i have been..!!

Fair price for the car, Nav always adds a bit more to the price.
Welcome, you will love the car.
Lot of great people on this forum.

well. i traded-in my 02 Civic couple LX for CAD $7218, (the salesman there told me that it'd worth more if there wasn't a crazy accident that happened on my civic 4 years ago.... the repair cost approximately $4500...:P )

as long as i know i didn't get ripped off big time.. that's already some good news for me...

so now this car already has 87000km on it.. how soon do i have to send it for maintenance ?!?!

and is it true that i can only feed her with premium 91 gas?

Congratz on your new G. Yes Premium is required, in a pinch you can run regular, but expect a loss in performance.

Yeah 2004's with about 38,000 kms - 44,000 kms were going for around $32000 - $35000 and that is from Inifiniti dealers BEFORE taxes.

Was that 29,500 ALL IN? That is, taxes and on the road?

i'd say that's a reasonable price, assuming that's all-in. that's somewhat high mileage at 88K, but for $29.5K your into a nice car.

hopefully the maintenance has been kept up-to-date, try and get the records if possible. if it is needing TLC/servicing, you could be looking at $$$.

one thing to keep your eye on: BRAKES! these cars eat brakes. since yours has over 60K, no warranty so you are on your own. is yours a Brembo-equipped car?

for your brake work, DO NOT go to a dealer. they will scalp you. buy your parts from an online distributor then get the work done at an alternate shop. if you live in TO there should be many reputable shops familiar with nissan/infiniti products.

FYI: i purchased my '04 6 speed sedan in December for $30K all-in, 40K on it.

make sure u ran a car fax on, carfax.ca to see if there has been accidents on it... i had a civic too so you're going to feel the gas guzzling of the G but do use premium, you don't want engine problems just cause you skimped out on premium

thanks for all the info guys...

it is $29,500 BEFORE tax and I still have to pay e-cert (CAD$995) and some Gov admin fee which is i think (CAD $295).. however, i traded-in my 02 Civic for $7218 .. (there was a major accident on my Civic 4 years ago which cost $4500 to fix)..... i too think that this car's got some mileage on it. but then there is still about 10 months warranty left.. i thought that i should prolly give it a try..

as for the brakes.... how do i know if it needs to be replaced.. the sales guy told me that as long as the car passes the e-cert.. i can keep using my brakes for at least another half a year if i dont go crazy on my car.... is that true or he is just makin' some crap up so he can sell it to me...???

and excuse for my lack of knowledge here.... what is TLC canucklehead mentioned earlier..

last question. .i thought the standard factory warranty is 4 years /100000km whichever comes first... why did canucklehead say i am now on my own since my car is over 60000km???.....
