Colin, if I know you as much as I think I do, you will have a blast at Shannonville. I'm not sure which track we are supposed to be on, hopefully the full track, the last time I went we only got to run the Nelson which is a smaller track with not much in the way of a straight sections so you don't get to really open the cars up much but lots of curves and even a double apex.

As far as the R1 goes, if you feel brave enough to climb on then I would certainly entertain the idea if my @ss gets sore. Better make sure you bring some riding gear with you if that's the case. Bare skin and the R1 don't mix well if you go down, not that it would happen but it is better to be safe than sorry. God I sound old, don't I.

LOL, I had the same and gave the same 'suggestions' during my and my son's biking days...I hear ya bro.......Indeed it's been a long time since I've been 'in the saddle', and probably wouldn't chance it.....but tnx for the offer......I know those offers don't come easy.....

I'm sure it'll be a fun time on the 18th of July. Something for us all to look forward to...

I"m still trying to find out if the same family (Ariel) in Sommerset made the Ariel motorbikes my Dad rode when he was young.......
My Dad was the real rider in the family.......

No worries bro. I wouldn't have offered if I didn't think you could handle it. I remember you telling me about your riding days. I also know that if you haven't been on a bike in a while it can take a lot out of you very quickly. I am usually very sore for the first few weeks of riding when the season starts. You just don't use the same muscles over the winter time and your body lets you know real quick when you first start to ride again. Maybe I'm just getting old.

in a pig's eye, lol, It's going to be a great day.......

but let's all hope it doesn't rain.............perish that word.
Everyone think sun, warm, clear, cloudy, even cool, but NO RAIN.....

"Bat Outa HeII".

Wow, Good find Ian. And it certainly answers my questions about the Ariel name and family.
Being an avid biker, my Dad always talked of his Ariel bike that he and his brother (my uncle) shared during the 40's.
Judgeing by this writeup you found, I can see why: the bikes were very well made and state of the art........just like the Atom is today....

It's times like this that make me wish I could share this experience with my Dad..

Tnx for the info Ian.......much appreciated.....

Colin.

Wow, I've just had a quick scan of the Atom Owner's manual you posted. That's useful info for us .. Good to get some familiarity with the machine even b4 going.......
Another good find Ian....

Edit. - the Honda K20 engine and 6 speed transmission is probably the same as in my CSX type S Acura.....
If it is, it'll be a treat. Very user friendly, nice ratios and slick shifting ......wooohoooo..

^Good finds Ian. Okay, I've been through the manual. What's next?

Allright I'm in. The big city didn't excite my lady so coming up by myself.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate for this trip.

Recommendations needed for economical accommodations for several nights. Anything else going on in TO I should plan for? Lots of flexibility with my time and plans.
