Question for Kevin

Was wondering if you have heard of a synthetic shield called Finish First...also what are your impressions of 3M compounds? From what I have read, after buffing the car (black specifically), your recommendation is Z5, Z2, then Natty's Blue (by poorboys?). Can you put any wax over Zaino?

Thanks

I know you specifically asked Kevin, but yes you can put wax on over Zaino. It's recommended that you let the sealant cure for about 24 hours before you apply your wax. I've put Nattys Blue over Z5 on two different cars that I have detailed recently. Btw, Nattys Blue rocks.

Shane, a question . If you a wax over your Zaino, can you still apply more coats of zaino or are you pooched for the Zaino unless you strip and start over again.

So will Natty's give a deeper gloss than Z2? Best place tp buy Natty's?

Yep, that's correct Wayne. You can apply a carnuba over a sealant, but not the other way around. Sealants don't bond well with Carnuba waxes. Applying the sealant gives you the durability, and the carnuba over top of the sealant gives you depth and gloss.

EDIT: Wayne, here is a decent writeup.

I purchased my Nattys from George at www.detailedimage.com and he gives a 10% discount to all G35Driver members.

I just read their site. I've not heard of them until now, but info I can guess from their site.

1) It is a polymer sealant (duh)
2) It is a chemical cleaner, like NXT.
3) Like NXT, it has fillers. It mentions "removing" swirls, which it will not actual do (but it will fill them).
4) The site doesn't make any crazy claims, like "lasts for 500 years" or "repels fire and the devil", so it seems fairly straight forward, just looks like a run of the mill chemical cleaner/sealant to me.
5) It does say it lasts 6-9 months, which I find highly unlikely. I know of three products that will consistently last longer than 6 months, and if this did too I'd have heard of it. My guess is 3 months.

3M compounds are ok, which ones specifically, the perfect-its?

FWIW, I find very little benefit to topping Z5pro on dark colors, and almost none to topping Z2pro or Acrylic Jett on light colors. I use waxes in the summer, but mostly by themselves on flat dark colors, like black and red.

You mean topping those Zaino products with the Natty's is uncalled for? What would you use on my car Kevin when I bring it to you?

Hey, thanks Shane, that was an excellent read .

For my particular car (Platinum Ice) I will stick to the straight Zaino treatment, especially since it is outdoors 24/7. I can add a bit more protection with a Zaino treatment throughout the season.
Does that sound logical, what's your opinions?

That definitely sounds logical to me Wayne. Sealants are a lot more durable than carnuba waxes so if you don't want to wax your G every month, sticking with Zaino is a great choice.

That's awesome Ian. I couldn't imagine being without my PC now. What are you gonna use for a polish?
