HELP rear brakes seized..

( I also posted this in the Breaks /Suspention Forum) Car is an 04' Sedan, the breaks are not seized completley but I do notice when I'm stopped at a light the car doesn't move freely it feels like the breaks are being applied gently, I noticed my rear wheels didn't move freely when I had the car up on Jacks so I know its the rear. Is there a DIY on how to fix this? or can someone tell me how I go about fixing my problem? I knowq there is still good life on the pads & rotors.

Thanks in advance

Do you use the parking brake at all?
It may be what's seized.

Otherwise a caliper could be going bad or the slide pins are binding.

How long since they've been serviced?

^^^What Ian said.
It is a good idea to disassemble the calipers once a year, at least to clean everything up and lube the slide pins.

My thinking too......If the callipers haven't been serviced since new then that's a good place to start..... The pins and sliding surfaces should be lubed twice a year.

If that doesn't solve the issue, it's probably the emergency brake cables binding which usually happens after non use over a long time.

Time for some brake maintenance.

do you smell anything? is it noisy? like what everyone said, it may be the caliper's slide pins. also, take note on your driving habits. do you live on a hill? if so, do you hold your brake all the way down till you get to the bottom of the hill?

It probably is the slide pins guys, I haven't brought the car in for service since I've owned it I just think the stealerships are too expensive. I'll bring it to my friend who usualy fixes my car and we'll have a look at it. Is there a DIY in here on brake service? Imay just tackle this myself on the weekend.

Thanks for the help guys

No DIY that I know of, G-Man, but work with your friend and you'll see that with a little time and tools it's not much of a job......

-- a little dirty at times but not difficult.
I would say about 5 out of 10 on the difficulty scale....
Very much worth knowing......
