talking about 18" tires...

As my car is reaching 90000km and its slipping like crazy in the wet weather.

i am finally thikning about getting a new set of summer tires....

i have been doing a little search on my own over the past few days and it seems like a lot of people have had positive experience with Falken FK452 and Falken ZE512.

So i sent an email to Simonone performance yesterday and here is the reply that i got from him

---------------------------------------------

The Falken 512 are now discontinued .What we can get are Falken 912 225/45ZR18 for 225.00 and rear 245/45ZR18 are 256.00 each plus install.

The Falken 452 front are 273.00 and the rear are 274.00 each plus install if you put the 40 series tires on it will throw off your speedo it is not recommended by our supplier
---------------------------------------------

Can anybody tell me if this is true that Falken 512 is now discontinued??

Because I am still able to see this tire on their official website http://www.falkentire.com/

Also. why is Fallken 452 not recommended by his supplier while everyone else on this forum seem to fall in love with this tire??

my last question is...on the manual it says I need 225/45WR18 (Fr), 245/45R18 (Rr)

then would it be a problem if i put 225/40r18 (fr) and 245/40r18 (rr) on my car??
The reason I ask is because it seems like Falken 512 only has 225/40/18 and 245/40/18 available..

oh and finally..can anyone recommend some other tires?? i am looking for somethign that has a long tread life with a little bit of performance taste. but i aint looking to bring my car on the track or lower it..)

I have a 04 G35 Couple with 18" OEM rims if that helps..

your help is much appreciated....

tiretrends.com has Falken FK-452 for $209 in 225/45/18 and ZE-912 for $184
245.45/18 are $225 and $217 correspondingly. All in CAD
Avon are even cheaper in same sizes. I can's say if going with 40 series will be OK or not. Do not be misguided by 1-2 km/h speedo error,it's total BS, but I am not sure how traction control will look at change in wheel diameter with staggered set up.
ZE-912 looks like better choice for you if you are looking for longer thread life.

Stay with the 45's. The rear rims are too narrow with anything wider like the 40 series. The supplier is not recommending the size of the tire in a 40 series.

That's a great price even with shipping and brokerage! Having 1 USD at 1.05 CAD helps too

If you give them a sob story about brokerage fees and how high our taxes are they might give u a break on shipping to offset the brokerage. Thats what I did.
