Computer Gurus, Come On In.

I have a spare desktop that has been sitting in a closet not being used. I am thinking about selling it since I don't really have much use for it. I've been a little out of touch with computer prices over the last year and was wondering how much you think I should ask for it.

It's an HP dc7100 SFF business desktop
Intel P4 3.0 GHz
512 MB DDR RAM
40 gig SATA HD
Integrated sound and video
DVD-RW drive
10/100/1000 ethernet card
17" CRT HP 7500 monitor
HP keyboard and mouse

Honestly, I think you're looking at around $250-300 USD in the US, not sure how much more computer parts cost over in Canada though

Check out craigslist to see what current prices are in your area.

Yeah, computer prices are much different here in Canada.....that's why I wanted to post here instead of the OT section.

I was looking at Toronto craigslist, 2.66GHz P4 w/ similar other specs was going for $150 so I think $250-300 is about right

That is a 2.8 w/ DVD burner but no monitor

I guess $350 is probably closer to what you can expect in Ca

Shane, there's another option you might want to consider.

We had an extra computer, monitor, desk, etc. , everything ready to roll. I enquired about a needy Mother with children and found a girl with two children. I loaded it in my truck and delivered and set it up for them. It was their first full computer set-up they ever had. They were estatic. A few years later this teenage boy came up to me and said he was one of the children that we gave the setup to with a big smile on his face, and said thanks again. This was worth so much more than just trying to sell it.

Great idea Wayne. I am sure there are lots of charities like the Salvation Army that I could give it to. Maybe I'll wait until Xmas and give it away as a present......that would make a family happy!

His setup is fast enough for regular family. HD is a little too small and the graphic card is a bummer but hey its free...

That truly is a great idea Wayne. Good for you. I think you have mentioned this before on line.

There is a good chance I will get a new computer later this year and will definitely do this with my current machine. I've got similar specs to Shane's so should be good enough for a couple of years for basic home use. It's still serving me right now.
