Sad day - unfortunate incident

This may be a long shot, however if you guys have any information I would really appreciate it.

My car was broken into on Friday afternoon at the Wilson subway station (across Home Depot) TTC parking lot. Maybe some of you park there, or know someone who parks there.

The passenger side window was pried open and broken and a few items were stolen:
- Pioneer 7'' screen (wire was cut)
- iPod
- Playstation 2 console (pass side foot area) and wires were cut
-damaged pass side door (deep scratches)
-pillar above door was broken
-weather stripping was ripped (due to prying)

This was in broad daylight (between 9am and 3pm) and parked infront of the TTC camera.

I have to say im really dis-heartened by the whole event, and im just in a loss for words. It really sucks to have to go through this.

Dam !!!!! thats horrible. It seems like a person can't own a nice car without some low-lifes coming along and screwing it up. I really sympathize for you, that would definitely screw up my day.
Keep us up to date frigga, and good luck with the fix.

Thanks -

Funny part is that there were 2 police cruisers in the parking lot on Wednesday and Thursday before the incident, asking people questions.

As usual the police said they can do nothing, unless the TTC has footage of it.
TTC says that most parking lot camera's are for deterrence rather than actual security. Meaning they're mostly non-active camera's. That's messed up.

The window is ~$400 from the dealer, and hopefully a tint shop can match the tint that the car currently has.

Anyone know where I can get a used one from? No scrap yards have these in stock (obviously)

As for the scratches, I'm not sure.

that's terrible, sorry to hear it.

were any of the accessories visible to prying eyes? i guess moving forward try and ensure that nothing can be seen from the outside. thieves may not break in if they see nothing of value...

Did you contact your insurance about this or are you just dealing with it on your own?

Your auto insurance policy would cover anything that was physically attached to the car. Anything that was not attached would be covered under your home policy. I just thought I would give you the heads up on that in case you didn't know. That really sucks though, sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear about the break in.

Sounds like you are not going through insurance. When my car was broken into at the GO station, I was told that my premiums would not be affected by this. You just have to pay your deductible. Which ever way you go, good luck with the repairs.

Thanks - I actually had no idea about this. I'll take that into consideration.

I've decided not to go through insurance - only because I don't want any heat on me. I've been told that that when renewing your policy you will need to let them know about this. Be that as it may, I'm just going to fix the window and try and fix the scratches/dents.

Yes, in the future I am definately going all STEALTH, the screen was in the stock navi location. I can't imagine what damage they would have done if I had a double-din conversion done (which is completely out of the question for me now)

I appreciate all of the support guys, venting goes along way.

it might be illegal but have you thought of getting your front windows tinted to some degree? it would be harder for thieves to look inside your car and see things that would encourage them to break in. thats one up-side i can see to getting your fronts tinted
