Best method of finding employment?

Hey guys this is pretty random, but ive been applying and applying for 2-3 months already trying to look for a new job.

I'm just wondering if you guys have any tips for a recent graduate to land a job.

I finished in Networking and right now it doesn't seem like alot of companies are looking to hire. ive gone though everything from websites to headhunters and still no bite.

Anyone have any ideas?

Can you clarify what Networking is? I assume something along the IT lines, yes?

If so, there must be a regional news magazine (or website), or something published by a governing body. i.e. - in BC i would look in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (APEG) bi-monthly magazine. they would likely have a careers section where postings/ads would be.

just a thought, it worked for me.

also, you could check with a university/college either on site or online to check their postings. most institutions will have postings for jobs for recent grads and summer students.

I know you said GTA, but if you don't mind a commute, have a look at this company:

http://www.autodata.net/careers.html

It's a possibility that they will be opening another satellite office in Guelph/K.W., which would be even closer. Doesn't hurt to check it out!

^Have you uploaded a resume for employers to look at as well? If not do it because a lot of employers look at the resumes as well just in case you missed applying for a job.

what do you have? MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, Solaris 10, CompTIA A+? I know someone that will be hiring by the end of the year.

i had signed up with the student employment office, they forward all the job offers that companies send them to the qualified students (by program). it's a good place to start. got a few jobs through that, (when i was at school still, and is actually how i got my current job).

problem with IT is that there's so many people looking, so there are few jobs and the standards are higher...
it seems like the sites like monster and so on are geared to people who have been in the workplace for a long(er) time, and/or highly educated. (i didn't find anything i'm remotely qualified for).

if you really wanna rake in the money, become a plumber...
