3m Clear Bra install in GTA
3m Clear Bra install in GTA
I used Mark from ChipGuard (416-407-5489).
I think others have used John from ShieldPro (905-609-4272).
Chipguard was about 20% more expensive than ShieldPro, but they do things like remove the grill so that he can wrap the film around the edges. If you don't bother with the wrap around, I'm sure results would also be good, but there would be a small gap between the film and the grill for example. Whether losing the small gap is worth 20% more is a personal decision; I thought it was worth it.
I did mine in October. At the time the regular price for the hood/front bumper would be $690 with the wrapped around edges. He might be willing to do it for $600 + tax (which equals $690 again), if you say you read about him in G35Driver forums. ShieldPro would be about 20% cheaper, and I think they provide a mobile service.

Re: 3m Clear Bra install in GTA
I had mine done at Alta.
I also asked that the guy who does their detailing be there to "clean" the car up before the bra was applied. I think his company is called Carsmetics or something like that. The car was 3 months old and had 4 noticeable stone chips on the hood! Black is a bitch to keep up.
Anyway the bra cost $250 + tx installed as a Service offering but the guy comes in to do the work. The bra wraps under the lights and over the edge of the hood. No edges - real nice job.

Re: 3m Clear Bra install in GTA
That's the cost Alta charges....
I asked why the bumper (front fascia) doesn't get covered and was told that because it's made of plastic it doesn't suffer damage as easily as the hood does. Also, if it does get dinged its easier and alot cheaper to repaint (plastic bits) than to create and install the clear bra.
I had the chips on the hood fixed but didn't have any damage on the bumper. I guess that proves what the guy was telling me was true...
BTW the 250 was for the clear bra application only.

Re: 3m Clear Bra install in GTA
Hey There,
I just want to clarify the difference between chipguard and shieldpro.
-shieldpro has been doing this product for only 1-2 years, I was told.
-chipguard has been in business since 1993, and they even trained 3m franchises across canada on this product.
they offer complete wraps. (inside wheel well to inside wheel well)
Even there precut kits wrap around the edges (behind headlights under hood 1/8 of an inch.)
-compared with shieldpro which is 1/8 of an inch AWAY from the edge, which they stretch to get to that point.
Chipguard only use 3M product. Im not sure what shieldpro uses, but should ask which material.
They were at the Toronto Auto Show and this is where I had these questions answered, when I was talking to them they mentioned they have a special on for the months of March and April, if you tell them you saw them at the autoshow or off a forum. Pay no tax! For example to do a full Bumper wrap and a Hood and fender kit is $600.00
Chipguard does these dealers for example
Alta Infiniti, Woodchester Infiniti, Infiniti of Yorkville, Willowdale Infiniti, Scarborough Nissan, Downtown Nissan, and more he mentioned that now I can't remember.
They did an awesome job on my car.
His name is Mark 416-407-5489
Hope this helps, curtis

Re: 3m Clear Bra install in GTA
I would also recommend Mark from Chip Guard. He installed the clear bra on my bumper and headlights. The job quality and material used (3M) was excellent. Virtually unoticeable and he takes the time to wrap around the edges (very tough). After one winter, I'm very glad I got it to help keep the pristine look of the front end. Pay the extra and you'll be glad you did. I had friends who paid less for a sub-standard job and now they want to do it over. Get it done right the first time is all I can say. This spring I plan to have my outside door rear view mirrors done as well.
