That's pretty likely.

However, I guess we can confess they're a pretty good neighbour for us.

Few of us here are French speaking and would have to look up Taisez-vous - shut up.

Yeah, you're right. This forum has 9 of them dedicated just to the U.S. and a couple to other parts of the world.

i was going to post a nice string of québecois swearing, but figured it still counts as swearing and may cause issues, if any of the moderators have a working knowledge of québecois.

t'aiser-vous, is actually calm yourself down, as in je suis à l'aise dans ce chaise. (i am comfortable / relaxed / calm in this chair)
shut up is more along the lines of "ferme ta guele" (shut your throat/mouth)
or "ferme la... / ta..." (shut the / your.... abbreviated version)

french lesson of the day,

technically it's an official language across the country, but is mainly used in quebec, along with parts of the maritimes, parts of the prairies.

Not to put down Americans but they did choose George Bush for their leader - TWICE

Our only real embarrassment was Brian Malroney (but we punted his *** out the door at the first chance we got)

-Canadian Beer rules, Germany is in second place, America (Budweiser)17th place.
-Tim Hortons Coffee kick Starbucks ***
-Pamula Andersons ***** are all Canadian Joy pillows

more to come...

Where are you from? (asks the American)
From Alberta Canada. (my reply)
Confusion sets in on the Americans face.
I try to help things out by saying its directly north of Montana.
A big smile comes across the Americans face. Then replies so out east.
Out east!! LOL

That's "High River French", Ian. Where I grew up in rural Alberta, you just didn't hear much French (though my Dad's best friend was Fr. Cdn) it would probably be met with something like "WHAT?!? Speak English, eh, ya peckerhead!"

Not so sure I agree we have a lot to crow about with a number of our leaders either although Bush would likely fit near the bottom.

It's Mulroney btw and we didn't punt him our first chance. In fact he led our country for just under 10 years from '84 to '93 winning two majority governments.

Pamela Anderson isn't exactly what I want others to think of when they think of our country.
