New plates for Alberta?

So, "special ed" Stelmach wants to have us return to the days of front license plates. Grrr... I prefer the front of my G to be nekkid!

Get out of my life Ed - conservatives are supposed to be for "less government", not more. You're going to make a life-long conservative vote liberal in the next provincial election.

If you're worried there aren't enough numbers left for license plates, let us keep our old ones and issue new ones with an extra letter. Just my 2 cents...

Special Ed, that's funny! I don't want from plates, either, nor do I think we need new plates. I guess it would be nice to have a change, but there are better things to spend provincial money on. Unless I can order them colour-matched to my paint!

I wouldn't worry about special ed, it's not likely that he'll be on the next ballot at all. I foresee another leadership race in the near future. I really hope he doesn't succeed in bringing front plates back.

Not a step in the right direction IMHO. What is the rationale of returning to what others have moving away from?

Front license plates make it easier to collect revenues with cameras, they make one camera do the work of 2 or more. The Alberta government is also planning to change red light cameras so that they issue speeding tickets to drivers that enter the intersection too quickly when the light is green. The plan hasn't been approved by the Calgary Police Service yet but that's only a matter of time.

I sure hope you guys manage to nip this in the bud....
There has been talk off & on about eliminating in Ont. (not holding my breath though),
I'd hate see this as a trend.

I sure don't want to say hello to a front plate.

As I suggested in this other thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/showpos...5&postcount=10, make sure all you Albertans also write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper! Many of the general public are ignorant of the factors, and will blindly listen to a few organizations and groups that tell them front plates don't cost any more and make things safer.
