Newspaper, coffee and a $6 discount. I'll ask for fries next time. I wanted it done after driving back and forth to Port Hope (400+km and doing another 600 ( London to Port Hope and back home ) from Fri. to Sun. That would have put me over at my change point somewhere on the 401. Paid for speed and convenience. Sound familiar? In and out in 18 min. Coffee was still hot

Same here. Went to Mr.Lube for a quick Mobil 1 job. $95 out the door.

Just wondering, for those that doesn't get their oil changed at the stealership, do you still bring it in for the regular maintenance? Or just an oil change is sufficient?

At 125 000 Km I don't go to the stealership anymore, except to pick up wipers or a filter ( I plan on doing my own oil changes and using my new jack in the spring.). I'll only go back if I feel they are the only ones that can do a particular job or if I want to . Probably get them to do my belts, unless I find the time to get it done at what's his name Vic, Simone ??? I'll search the posts. Might do it at the Nissan stealership. Time, service, cost, distance, all a balancing act.

Your mechanic sounds like he is stuck in the 1980's. Even 15 minutes of his time and the cost of oil disposal is worth more than that.

Thats true, just to get rid of my waste oil, I pay $2 for 10 liters when I take my waste oil into Crappy Tire.

Same here. However I can take it to a government recycling depot that's open to the public periodically every few months or so for free. I usually go when I have 40 liters.

Oil Change opinions.......quite a few!

I use Red Line synthetic oil, they recommend not using synthetic until 4K
miles. I did and alway have with my last two cars changed to Mobil 1 at less
than 1K miles without any issues. Plus even if I am using synthetic I still
change my oil/filter at 3K miles....my cars love it! My oil and filter cost me
$70 without paying someone to change it for me so I go to a friends shop
and use his lift. This allows me to check fluid levels, tire pressure and clean
anything I can reach.....nice huh? Hey, that's my two cents and just another
opinion.......

^^^ Nice arrangement, Gary!

On the subject of recycling, I can take mine for $5 to the local landfill and usually save it up for when I have other stuff to throw 'n go.

LOL, Deane, no 'dumping' at the landfill, but they do collect recycleables and used dangerous liquids for proper disposal......

There's a long history behind Amsoil & synthetic oil....
I used it pre-G35 & liked it, so I continued with it.
I was also getting great results on my oil test samples with the G.

FWIW... Here's a comparo...... but take it with a grain of salt because it comes from the Amsoil site
