Looking for a 3rd Vehicle, Here are my choices

The time has come for me to get a 3rd vehicle I need something to haul my DJ equipment around and I can't rely on my Mother-in-law's CRV or my Bro's Explorer all the time, the G35 is not the most roomy car for family trips and I just can't bare to see it plowing the driveway all winter. I don't want to spend any more than $7000. +tx. Here are my choices so far there in order of preference I've checked Auto Trader for prices and I can get all of these for around this price with under 200,00km.

1. 99' up Honda Odyssey

2. 99' up Pathfinder/ Infinity QX4 Auto (yes the QX4 is more pricey but I love that truck)

3. Dodge Caravan (only because I can get one 3 yrs old with low K's for this price)

4. 00' up Mazda MPV.

I am also considering Ford Escape/Tribute, Chev Blazer, Ford Explorer but as a last resort.

Feel free to make any comments..

I would jump on the Caravan if it's an '05 and low miles for that kind of money. You're stealing it. With seats out there is substantially more space than an SUV.

I own 2 of them now and they work fine but are far from fun to drive. The short wheel base ones are no longer being built.

However, for the $, the caravans are a great alternative. I had my 1990 for 14 years and 245 000 k's with only reg. oil and brakes, reg. stuff. Now I have a 2000 with 180 000 on it and it's dependable as all get out.

I think I'm leaning toward the Pathfinder & QX4, I found 2 of each with around 150,000km for $8 - 8500. (a bit more than my limit but thats asking price) fully loaded. I checked out the 4 Runner and MDX nothing available with under 200,000km in that price range. I'll keep you guys posted.

Oh I did find 1 Odyssey I'll be looking at.

for the minivan i would go with the odyssey. i rented one for a while a few years back and they are actually not bad to drive, they move pretty good for a minivan. also it would probably be more reliable than even a newer caravan.

Odyssey, pops has one and that thing is really convienient, smooth, and powerful. We rented the caravan once and with a full van with pedal to the floor it wouldnt pass 75-80 mph

I like the QX4 the best Roy. My neighbor has one and it's been trouble-free for him.

I was in the same boat year ago. I actually bought a brand new Subaru Outback in the states for less than I would have paid for a used SUV here in Canada. I got a fully loaded Outback for around $25K US plus tax. With the dollar the way it is, you might want to consider that as an option.

Yes I've considered it already but with a price limit of $8000. I won't be saving much from the US by the time its gets here. Its only worth it if you spend over 20 Grand.
