Re: Fuel gauge problem

Yes mine isn't showing as high as it used to. When it gets worse, I'll take it in for a new sending unit.

Re: Fuel gauge problem

When filling, the tank can still take about 2 more litres after the auto fill shut off on the nozzle. You'll have bring the pump nozzle up, to avoid auto fill shutoff. Filling about an extra buck and a half should be safe and avoid over filling. I hate it when it spills over. In any case, this usually takes care of the gauge not indicating complete full.

Re: Fuel gauge problem

My fuel gauge has problem too....but different one. My low fuel warning light and the needle just drop too fast. I only about to put about 50L of gas even the warning light is on, then the needle will back to the top.....

Re: Fuel gauge problem

Yeh, I tried that too. I fill up to the same point every time, so no change in filling. Gauge has changed a little.

Re: Fuel gauge problem

I've noticed that a number of G35 as well as 350Z owners having this problem solved it by having the dealer replace the fuel tank unit under warranty. Maybe you might want to also consult with your dealer. With so many people experiencing this problem and complaining, Nissan/Infiniti might issue an official service bulletin.

Re: Fuel gauge problem

Yeh, good idea bro. From what I've read in the papers, it seems to be related to the gasoline we buy which has an unusually high level of a manganese compound which messes with the sending units.

Re: Fuel gauge problem

You may be right about the gas. A friend of mine with a 350Z has the same fuel gauge problem as my G35C and he just filled up with Shell gas instead of Esso and the fuel gauge now reads to "F".

Re: Fuel gauge problem

Strange, I have the opposite problem as my gas gauge goes way over the F line. I wonder if its inaccurate too then because I have yet to see the fuel warning light go off. The most I've gone before refilling is 500 kms.

I'm curious as to on average how many kms before the warning light goes off?

Re: Fuel gauge problem

I seem to have two (unrelated?) problems with the fuel..

1) at certain gas stations (one Sunoco in particular) the auto shut off stops way before it's full. Like 10 litres. I have to sloooowly keep filling to top it off.

2) the fuel gauge sometimes stops a tick before full now.. but not consistently. I'm taking the car in next week so I'll ask about it.

I have similar problem, it click off before the tank is full. (not even half full actually). Anybody asked dealership for TSB on this?

Re: Fuel gauge problem

I've checked all TSBs and Infiniti has yet to issue one. We need to ban together and complain individually through our dealerships so that Infiniti can figure out what the "exact problem is" and hopefully issue a TSB or recall.

By the way all TSBs can be found here:
