Okay. My own experience is the large waffle weave holds a lot more water. However I'm sure you don't want to complain to her when you've got a good thing going.

I know a few other people who hand washes their car too, but they have heated garage... bastards.

There are two kinds of automated wash. The brush ones and the touch free ones. Both are not recommended.

Brush ones generally collects dirts from other cars and scratch your paint. i never go through brush anymore after seeing the amount of scratches I had first I tried it.

Touchless isn't any better. There are lot of arguments saying that the chemical is too strong and actually weakens the clearcoat or something.
+1. Washing your vehicle in Winnipeg by hand is not even an option. I tried one day with ONR in my garage and ended up having my waffle weave towel freeze to my car...

I was just at my friend's house the other day. He has a very small 1 car garage and we were just building up a couple of SR20's in our T-SHIRTS.

He uses a portable oil/electric heater that produces some serious heat. This could be a cheaper alternative to "heated" garage.

if I get an actual house. ( live in a condo now with a garage downstairs heated to 20deg c and a big spot) anyways if i bought a house my garage is going to be totally insulated... heated... tiled... raised... lol everything you can think of.. in the end you can sleep in there...how much more can it cost..5 to 10 grand if you did it to begin with... not as a retrofit..

anyways back to topic.. I use.. Optimum rinseless car wash....read up google it.. good stuff problem is if theres too much road salt etc its still going to remain on your paint. I have had the car since Dec and I think I have hadwashed it...twice.. and each time I have also clayed it... I guess with normal clay you cannot really clay too much, theres too much contaminants to just wash and leave it.. you can feel the surface is totally rough... all the salt etc...

I usually just bring it to the self spray places... give it s good hose down not too long just whatever the minimum is 3 or 4 bucks.. then drive home quickly and carefully and handwash before anything dries on it. But then again in the winter the next moment u dirve out its going to be dirty again, I guess the main idea here is so that those nasty stuff doesnt do permanent damage to the paint job, rather than it remains clean.

non winter time.. i.e no salt.. the rinseless wash does a fantastic job as good as suds.

I've always been on my own well, so it's hard to imagine being on a water ban. What are the restrictions when you guys are on that?

A typical water restriction in Oakville, ON would be only allowed using 'outside' of the house water on even/odd days (corresponding to house number). Come to think of it, I don't think it's really restriction, just more of a suggestion.

Here's the short version.
From May 31 to September 30 each year.
- residents were restricted to once per week lawn watering between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

If your address ends in: Your lawn watering day is:
0 or 1 Monday
Time Restrictions for ALL watering: 7:00 - 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Residents are permitted to irrigate gardens, trees, shrubs and other outdoor plants on alternate days.
Municipal addresses ending in even numbers are permitted to water gardens, etc. on even-numbered dates of the month and odd addresses may water gardens on odd-numbered dates within the time restrictions.
The washing of cars with a controlled hose (with a shutoff valve attached) will be permitted on alternate days within the time restrictions.
Topping-up of permanent residential pools is allowed on alternate days within the time restrictions.

Thats why when I get a house.. its going to have a high wall all around it.. so screw the bylaws haha I will NEVER live in a which is all open up... defeats the purpose of the house...

Wow that sucks for you guys. Manitoba has more than enough water for no restrictions and pretty cheap electricity as well.
