rust n stuffs

i recent purchaced a 2006 g35 coupe from the states...after having it for a couple months, i noticed that the paint is literally crap. Inside the door jams i am finding various chips and rust and bubbling on some trimming......

im in a bind, will canadian dealerships honor my factory warranty?, or is it like honda...u buy it from the states= no warranty....

Im not 100% sure but i think they might.

For some odd reason, Nissan doesn't honor warranty while Infiniti does. It's kind of funny considering Infiniti is Nissan pretty much. I could be wrong.

from what i hear, infiniti warranty is fully transferrable, even if you buy the car brand new from the USA
for Nissan, the car has to be registered at least 6 months in the USA before you can transfer the warranty.

your car sounds like it was a flood car from the USA... a 2006 should not have a spec of rust yet unless its on the undercarriage...

It sounds like what you're describing is rust from poor care or perhaps the flood scenario kingrukus mentioned. Chips that remove paint will always rust. My G '04 doesn't have a spec of rust.

From my understanding the warranty is transferable on a used or new Infiniti.

^true. The damage being described doesn't sound like it to me and it always doesn't sound like warranty would cover it either.

Warranty wouldn't include touch up paint over a chip that is starting to rust by chance would it? (seriously doubting it)

The Infiniti paint is weak but rust bubbling on a G35 seems very out of place.

Speaking of rush, I was over at Krown and inquiring about a 3m clear bra and he quoted me about 600 for the whole thing which includes front bumper, hood and mirrors. He also told me that rust usually forms during spring time when the weather warms up and expands the metal. I always thought that cars rust during the winter because of all the salt. Can anyone shine some light on this and let me know if this is true. I told him I would come by this week to rust proof my car, as I don't want to take any chances. Since I know him from before, he quoted me like $90 for the whole thing, is this a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance for the input.

^rust forms on bare metal from exposure to the elements, mainly moisture and salt. Warmer temps accelerate this process as does freeze /thaw such as driving the care outside in winter and then parking in a warm space. The result is constant moisture and rust.

Good plan. I did mine when new and have it touched up each year. It makes a mess under hood, underbody etc but on the East Coast it is the only way to stop a car from rusting in short time.

Yah I had it done every year before the winter on my prelude after seeing a car from the 70's that was rust proofed. I was amazed because there wasn't even a singe spot of rust on it for such an old car that was driven even during the winter. It does make a mess but the oil or what ever they use usually stops dripping after a few days, all in all well worth the $90 a year which is basically a tank of gas these days.
