ROFLMAO How often have you got a flat on your car and your spare at the same time. I have been driving for over 40 years and have never punctured a tire or got a flat on the spare while it was in the trunk.

I usually leave mine out around the city. I put it back in the trunk on longer drives... Not a big deal, never had a problem.

None of the cars I've owned has spare tires. I consider them the most useless thing in the world. Maybe because I usually have two set of rims.

^ do you mean that none of the cars you owned came with spares, or you took the spares out of all of them?

if you carry the second set of rims with you at all times then at least you're being safe, but that's a lot of extra weight. if you simply have a second set at home collecting dust then what do you have planned for when you get a flat late at night in the middle of nowhere?

do you have insurance? because insurance, too, is "useless" until something happens. just like a spare tire.

Infiniti already replaced the steel spare with an alloy for the 2007+ sedans so there really isn't much for me to gain by removing it.

If you really want to shed some weight, skip lunch.

Took mine out and shot some helium in the trunk, but that ish won't stay put. I have an alloy spare, so not a big deal. I'd rather carry the few extra pounds than be stuck without one when I need it. Reminds me, I should really check the pressure in that thing.

^ as a side note, aren't all G spare tires matching full-size rim/tire combos? my spare is the OEM sport wheel & Turanza tire.

Mine is, the tire itself still smells new after (presumably) 6 years.

That spare tire with steel rim seems really heavy.. but i am not sure how much gas (in %) can I save by not carrying a tire around
Does anyone else think this question is extremely ridiculous?

I took the spare out of my Maxima and put it in the G, the Diameter is the same and the spare is much lighter I just have to turn off the VDC if I put the spare on. I realy did it for the extra trunk space

yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Take out the rear seat too, the trunk liner etc.

You might save $1.00 per year

Raises hand. By driving slower, minimizing braking, gently accelerating a person would save 1000X more than cutting 30 lbs out of the car.
