Sqeaky Brakes and other fun noises....

I changed the front rotors and pads a few months ago on my 2003 G35 sedan. I noticed a few weeks ago that when I reversed, I'd often hear a metal squeaking noise when I applied the brake. I figured this meant the rear pads/rotors were gone too. I had those changed too as the mechanic said they were low.

Now, I'm still getting some rear braking squeaks? Also, I had this before the change of the rear brakes, when I turn the wheel to the right, I hear a scraping noise, almost like the pads (or something in the wheel well) are hitting something?

Anyone have any ideas as to what the heck is going on?

No idea, really. Might want a good brake tech to look at it.

I had some squeaking on my 03 and got all ready to do all the pads, then discovered it was just a bit of debris under one of my front pads, still lots of material left. Still some minor squeaking, though, maybe it's 'normal' for our cars? Anyone?

My brakes started squeaking a couple of months ago. Had them checked out. Pads and rotors are fine. The dealer performed some sort of "adjustment" and mentioned some debris that they removed. Brakes still squeaked. Dealer looked at them again and said no problems, so unless I wanted to change the pads, leave as is. So now I'm just putting up with the squeaking. Kind of embarrassing for this kind of car though.

I'm surprised you didn't say it's the 18" Sport wheels causing it Swivelhips, since Brad has my old 18"ers that you wanted

Ha my brakes squeak so loud all the time as well (always when reversing and some times on my first stop); at first I was quite annoyed but now it is quite comical; especially at 6 AM on a sunday morning (tends to wake up my neighbors). I have had it checked and Nissan said it was fine and just the brake dust. Infiniti does offer a service to resurface which I think might help. Only real solution I believe right now is to apply anti-squeek on your rotor and pads and that will stop the noise. Or get brake pads that produce less dust like Hawkpads.

It is funny explaining it to my dad that why a 30k+ car would have a problem like this. He doesn't like buying the idea of the brake pads being extremely soft and the metal oxidizing on the rotors. Then when the brake pads go over the rotor and the rust that collects when your vehicle sits for extended periods of time. Sounds like a reasonable explanation though .

Don't mean to rub it in... but, as you'll see from the photo, there's reason to brag here!

Other than a couple of sporadic times right when my car was new my brakes have not made a peep. They do dust pretty good though!

Are you using OEM pads? Nissan said my pads were at 80% but the squeeks sure are annoying; wondering if replacing them this early will stop it.
