PA11-NIS Installation

Hi Everyone,

I've decided to get a PA11-NIS for my '06 G35 coupe. I went to Kromer Radio, and they wanted $300 for it, plus another $150 for installation. I was wondering if anyone else bought a PA11-NIS from someone else in the GTA and had it installed.

It's easy enough to buy a PA11-NIS in the US for ~$150, but where would you recommend I get it installed (there's no way i'd install it myself - i don't want to fuss with the console) in the GTA.

Thanks.

Ya, its easy enough to find a good deal on the PA11-NIS out of the US. That part i'm not concerned about. What I would really like to know is whether or not there is a place that can do the install in the GTA if I buy the part from the US.

www.g35ipod.com <-- very clear and concise walk through. No shop should have difficulties following the instructions; although I think you might be able to do it yourself as well.

I ordered mine from the US (I forget where) for about $150 all-in.

These guys quoted me $75 to install:

I can't vouch for them, since I haven't had it done yet.

Cool, I'll give them a call and see what they can do. Ideally, I want the iPod cord in the armrest console, but I do have the empty bin where the NAV usually goes as a second option.

I spoke to Kromer Radio today, and they said if I bought the unit, it would take about two hours to install (at $65/hour).

Any updates on this?

I'm also in the market for the install. Similarily, I'll order the part without too much fuss and have a US address to receive it and what not. But the install, although folks are claiming it to be easy - that part I kind of hesitate on doing myself. I'm not inclined for such things and I would hate to mess something up inadvertently.

I'd be interested in contact info or pics of set up.

Cheers,

'06

I never understand why some of these audio visual shops think they can hire, train and pay kids to do these installs at a charge out rate over $65/hr (when paying them $10-15/hr). It's nuts! I'm not knocking what the techs do, just the ratio in which the money hungry corp. rips them (in wages) and us off. Please don't try to tell me it's overhead either.

Bad Boy recently quoted my neighbour $100/hour (@ 2hrs) to come and set up his new 42"plasma mounted on the wall for him. The store is 15min away. I ended up helping him instead. It took 30 minutes and that included fishing the wires through the wall.

As a comparison...we've got Jr. Engineers in our consulting firm and we charge out $80-90/hr for them and they are payed $30-35/hr. As far as overhead goes we have an office building to run and maintain and each employee costs an avg of $10k just to get set up with computers, software and furniture, just to mention a few things.

Wow!...there's my rant for the week...don't know what brought that on
That all being said...that's life
