Fuel gauge problem

Sam from Alta (great service dept at Alta I must say) has been working on me to try to correct the problem with my fuel gauge malfunction since changing the sender unit didnt correct teh problem.

What has been recommended by Nissan Canada to him is this.

Try putting the nozzle in 3/4 of the way in and do not use the full power when filling (do not pull the trigger all the way) use about 50% or so.

So I will try this with my next 2 tanks and let Sam know the results.

Anybody get this recommendation from Nissan Canada via their service advisor?

Re: Fuel gauge problem

Thanks for the heads up. I'll give it a try.
I've not heard from Nissan Canada yet.

Re: Fuel gauge problem

Already been tried and it doesn't work. In fact, I've filled my tank till it overflowed (3 times) and my needle still shows 80% full each time.

This issue has been discussed in a previous thread with all kinds of stuff being done.

Re: Fuel gauge problem

I've just hit my 6th month...and sure enough 2 fills ago my needle stopped going to the top. I thought it was strange that I filled it and the needle didn't hit the max. So now what. Do I complain to Infiniti?

Re: Fuel gauge problem

I filled up the tank at (please don't kill me) Canadian Tire. For those who want to flame, just wanna let u know that I usually put in Sunoco Ultra94. I needed gas badly so had to get it at the closest CanTire station. Fill up was ok, lots of "full clicking" but pumped it to the nearest dollar. The needle was surprisingly over the FULL mark. (this was last week)

Just today, I went to Sunoco to get my Ultra94 octane and the freakin pump kept on clicking full at $3 in. I had to search for a sweet spot before I could hold down the nozzle. It just wouldn't stop clicking full no matter where i placed the nozzle in the tank. After a long while at the pump, I finally got it full and surprisingly enough, it was over the full line again.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...

It's still a G thang!!
