do you guys consider the gtr a "super car" (status wise)
I mean would you drive a Nissan or Porsche (If they cost the same)

it's hard to say, i would say the GTR because of the "geekiness" of it. porsches are for boring old guys trying to get chicks...

the gtr is more for "car geeks", and i've heard/read lots of reviews/comments/etc from older journalists and commentators that they "just don't get it", your more likely to have a gtr driver going on for hours about all the nifty features, poor warranty, controversy etc, than a porsche driver going on about the same with a carrera or boxster.. (yeah, i know i'm making broad generalizations and accusations, but it's what i've noticed, and driver stereotypes are what are seen when you see a car, like when you see a bmw and automatically think: "*****", or, around here, a first gen 35 sedan and think: "middle-aged woman".)

i just see myself more in the gtr category than the porsche category...

can't really say which is the better car, it seems to be a common comment that the porshes tend to be more of a "driver's car" than the gtr, but that's pretty subjective too, whether you like the technology or not.

I can be honest with myself and say I'd take the GT-R over any Porsche except the GT2/GT3.

I would agree that a porsche is more of a "drivers" car since there is not much technology compared to the gt-r. I mean most of them don't have gps, at least from what i know. However if I had the choice i would be the in same boat as fullviet about only taking the gt2 or gt3 vs a gt-r.

A member of the North American GT-R Owner's Club forums started a thread recently in which he tells about dropping off his Nissan GT-R at the dealership when he began hearing loud noises coming from the rear of the car. The dealership told him that his transmission was toast as a direct result of him turning off the car's VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) too much, which you have to do in order to use the Launch Control function. The cost to repair the tranny is $20,000 and Nissan won't cover it under warranty since the GT-R owner's manual states that damage to the transmission is not covered if it is proven to be the result of using Launch Control with the VDC turned off. In fact, the manual states that the only reason you should turn off VDC is for when you're rocking the vehicle because it's stuck in mud or snow. That's kind of like Nissan saying you should never use the Launch Control function despite the fact it's there.

That sucks if they dont replace it
