Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

My wife, our toddler and I just got back a couple nights ago from a 7 night stay at the Majestic Colonial Resort in Punta Cana. Weather was fantastic - average 30 C each day with a few warm rain showers on a couple days and a heavier rain that took place during one night. The resort is beautiful, the staff are very friendly and courteous, the pool is enormous and the beach area/ocean are fantastic.

The food is average but acceptable. Majestic's steakhouse (oceanside) is pretty good - not AAA Alberta beef by any means but it still made this meatatarian happy.

If you are travelling to the DR, this is one resort I would recommend. If you are going with infants/small children, make sure you book a suite with a separate bedroom - you will be thankful for the extra space. we had a huge suite on the fourth floor with high ceilings and a big (albeit not the most comfy) king size bed, two minibar fridges and a very long balcony.

On a car related note, someone greeted by IP G sedan (which was parked outside while we were gone - I know, dumb move) with a smiley face on the windshield made with toothpaste. I should be thankful it was just that and that the car itself wasn't damaged.

Cheers.

That's great to hear you enjoyed your stay. It was also great that the hurricane stayed west of the DR (but obviously not so great that it hit the Caymans and Cuba).
