I recently noticed damage to the edge of my hood and to the edge of the passenger fender near the fire wall. When opening the hood I heard a crunching noise and upon further inspection noiced the edge of the hood made contact with the fender. The vehicle has not been in an accident. When opening it doesn't always rub. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Sorry to hear of the accident damage.
I can't really suggest anything other than taking her to a good body shop and having them make the necessary repairs and adjustments.
Contact your insurance people and have them recommend a repair facility.

Go to your local Infiniti Dealer they should be able to help. You need to have those hinges replaced. Constant lube of these is essential too.

 

Slightly off-topic, but I was surprised to learn that our hoods are aluminum (like with the S2000). I always assumed they were stamped steel. I guess that's why we need that rod to prop it open from the front, rather than the usual struts at the back.
