Good Bye Sams Club

Just found out today that Sams Club is closing down all 6 of its Ontario stores. I stopped by one today and wow it was packed with people. However, nothing special/no good sales. Only food items were gone, whereas all electronics and what not are the same price. I guess it's back to only Costco.

There not closing them down, I dont think. I think there gonna replace em with Walmart SUPERSTORES. Which are ALOT BETTER.
Plus. The superstores in the states are open 24 hours. They might do that here as well.

Nobody really busy in bulk that much anymore. I dont think anyways.

^ No...they are in the process of closing up shop as of today (in Canada). A couple of weeks and the doors will be locked. Wal-Mart owns Sam's Club and the Ontario stores didn't meet expectations.
I also heard Lowe's is looking into possibly buying some of the locations from Wal-Mart.

Anything is possible in these somewhat troubled times.
They (Lowe's) where supposedly opening a brand new one just a few km from where I live, by the fall of '09. Time will tell.
I'm sure many companies, big or small, have changed there plans greatly for the upcoming year or two.

Lowe's just opened a bunch more stores. one in barrie recently I think there was one going in whitby as well.
Ummm Gary from cali... Wallyworld is closing down the sam's club (Costco-like store) to open a walmart superstore. probably will have the same employees, maybe more. no need for too much concern. Why wouldn't you shop there though? Walmart probably employees hundreds of thousands of north americans when you think about by comparison with every other company they are doing their part to keep the economy afloat.

It must be the reverse of what I was thinking I recalled. In these times I guess it was natural to think corporations were closing stores rather than open them.

Well I heard that Lowe's is possibly thinking about buying some of the locations. I also heard that this week (Mon. March 2nd - Sun. March 8th) they will be exclusively open to business members only. I'm going to go with my dad - hopefully they'll put some electronics for sale. After March 8th, they'll be open to the general public.

I tried Sams for a year. They had some outdoor speakers I was looking for and the membership paid for itself. But overall we were not impressed and went back to Costco. I think Costco has Sams beat hands down when it comes to food and clothes, but I did like Sams for electronics. Glad to have switched back, they do not seem to be overly concerned with compensating people for paid memberships that are basically useless.
