HELP: Refinish the rims???
HELP: Refinish the rims???
Agincourt Infiniti DOES have a sense of humor. 2.5 months after the "dealership-dropped-my-rim" case, they tried to find me new rim, but factory discontinue the 18" as U may already know. They offered the 4yrs warrantee for the refinish of the dropped-rim, but they now called me telling me to bring all 4 over (of cuz with no cost) just in case in the future there's a color difference.
So... now... my question is, should I do it or just forget the whole thing and keep it as now... becuz the dropped-rim wasn't really that bad, like scratchd dots and 1/2" scratch on surface.

Re: HELP: Refinish the rims???
I'd be inclined to leave well enough alone. (provided you can live with the scratched rim).
Refinishing all the rims may open up a 'new can of worms' , which might cause more agro.
Apparantly this: Wheel Paint is very good and might fix up your wheel well enough for you.

Re: HELP: Refinish the rims???
I have to agree with gsedanman. You may be subjecting yourself to more grief by having ALL your rims refinished just because of some minor scratch marks on the one rim.
The fact that they took 2.5 months and were not able to find a replacement rim speaks volumes about their service, and I for sure would not want to entrust them to refinishing the rims.
Even if they offer 4 yr guarantee, based on the hassle you have already gone through, if (and when) something goes wrong like discolouration, you're going to have more grief from them to stand by their guarantee...

Re: HELP: Refinish the rims???
The thing is the dropped my front-left, and last summer I scratched my rear-left with two inches big marks, it was quite obvious if U look at it, so I was just thinking will this be a good chance for me to refinish them, or like my friend suggested, to do it on one side only.

Re: HELP: Refinish the rims???
If they are willing to do all rims and yours are scratched already, I wouldn't mind having them all refinished. You have to keep in mind of what the guys said above, but it really is up to you to decide. If they do all, will they warranty the other 3 rims as well? If so, I'd do it for sure. Your resale value will go up if there are 2 less marks on 2 rims. If you don't plan to keep the car THAT long, it would be another reason for me to refinish the rims as well.
ps. My girlfriend's father just got a 6spd G35 in SS and she will be joining the forum soon as well. Now PrettyP has another T.O. girl to chill with at the meets. However, I haven't been going to any meets lately myself...stupid work.

It's still a G thang!!

I agree with Rumble, if you've got other damage, then go for the offer. Tell them you want warranty on all tho.
Hope to see you guys at next meet......

Thanx for all the advice, I already sent them all out to refinish, I asked the guys there if all 4 are warranteed, they said (verbal said) yes, so I decided to go for it, picking them up tml, hope nothing goes wrong. Cuz it's been quite a long stressful time Agincourt caused me. Wasting me numerous times to bring the car in and out and found out I have to bring in again and again with their stupicity. And their tone wasn't showing me that they were the "ONE" who was in fault in the first place, who was causing WHO with all the trouble, who is wasting WHO's time. Decided to service my car somewhere else. Apparently, Agincourt is causing me and my other Infiniti I30 tones of stress and problems that made me and my family decided to end the troublesome even my family been so loyal to their service for 10years with my other infiniti's.
Will keep U all post.

Bethany, I agree with Jandc : get your warranty in writing, not only because you've had questionable service from them b4, buy also you don't know who's around when you need help sometime down the road.
Memories fade quickly when the chips are down.
Good luck, and I hope they do a nice job of the wheels.

Re: HELP: Refinish the rims???
OK, tell me, it is hard to make customers happy in a service industry, but it's even HARDER to NEVER satisfy one customer even they have tried everything. IS THAT CORRECT???
First of all, I brought my car back yesterday morning with my BF's Accord (more room to fit my unloaded tires), SOO those service ppl already SURE know that I have another car to fit all my other set of R/Ts when they are off my car. So... I left my G there and gone for work. I picked them up after work at around 5:45pm, I think either they dun wanna be bothered much, so they decided to put one R/T in my trunk, and guess what happen to the other 3... in a million years I can never guess they <r>CRAMPED all 3 IN MY LEATHER BACK SEATS</r>, without puting down the back seat??? How can they do such thing without thinking with their a$$??? I mean, they could've just cramped them in the trunk with my back seat down and there's plenty of room, but ON the leather seats???? come on.... I got home, unloaded my R/Ts and yep there are two nice and firm tire prints on my back seats...
2nd - I could never get that "whoever" I was dealing with my case in contact, guess what "she" put on the service sheet? She put "warrantee the refinished rim, good for 4 yrs 100km" as soon as I saw that I was like, ok guys 100km?? it sounds like a trip to downtown to me... and I need to be sure that it's warranteed for all 4 rims not just one. What happened was, those service ppl said to me "yea it's 4yrs, 100k km, I guess she just put that wrong, and yea it's good for all 4 rims..." when they asked me to sign that sheet, I said "I am not gonna sign it unless I put the word 'conditioned' " So the service guy said ok, sure. He told me the manager will be back on Fri, so U can deal with her straightly, becuz we can't do anything on that, it's between U and her agreement, I really can't add or delete anything...
Ok I know to some ppl, my car worth only $52k. But I DO baby my car very much, I dun expect everyone in there baby my car, but at least PLEASE give me the service what me and my car deserves.
So tell me guys, honestly, if I was being bitchy or am I just have the perfect right to be pissed off???

Re: HELP: Refinish the rims???
OMG!! Reading this post above, just makes me mad for you. The service people should know better than to stick a few tires in the back seat of a leathered coupe. Haven't looked at my GF's coupe, but if the seats could have been layed down, then that is what they should have done. Hopefully they bagged the wheels at the least. Tire indents on the seats, they will go away, but I would be PISSED!! If there were scratches on leather, u wouldn't want to know what I'd be feeling. You have every right to be angry with their service or lack there of. Friday is the day you should storm down and make every adjustment possible with the service manager and I would write a complaint letter to Infiniti Canada as well. This whole situation must have been crazy. I definitely feel for you, PrettyP.
Hope you get everything straightened out on Fri. and tell them to add 3 more 0's at the end of 100kms to 100,000kms/4yrs. How do the rims look now, BTW?

Geez, those peeps sure know how to **** you off don't they??? Hope they did a better job of looking after your rims than they did treating you...UGGGGGGG
If they marked up your seats with the tires, get them to clean them up on Friday when you return to see the Manager.
I wouldn't deal with them any more (other than for the tires) if I were you.
We gonna see you on the 25th at Dave & Buster's 1pm?
