Double Park
Double Park
I live outside of the greater toronto area, but this evening when I was in and around toronto, on two seperate occasions i seen the exact same g that i have double parked... whats with this?!?? this is a entry level model car in the infiniti lineup! therefor i should expect to see every M/FX and whatever else doing this... come on folks. park between the lines, you should not have a drivers licence, because you'd fail at the basic concept of parking. anyone with me? does anyone do this and would like to explain to me why this is done?

This annoys me as well....
But it's not just a G thing, you see all manner of cars doing this.
In fact, I think it just attracts undue attention & could very well lead to getting keyed.
You're basically thumbing your nose at everyone else in the pkng lot.

sorry, i do it all the time, but i park further away from the entrance, where it doesn't bug anyone, especially places like walmart/grocery stores.
why i do it...
people don't care, and when their fat a$$es swing open their doors on their $hitboxes, they leave nice dents on my car that I have to stare at and waste my money to repair or repaint. basically, it's dent prevention. after seeing my mom's camry (who shops a lot), my girlfriends tiburon and now her camry (also shops a lot), both of them full of dents and knicks due to shopping center parking lots, i park my g in the back and double it.
why you will do it...
when you get a nice dent on your pride and joy G because some fat a$$ broad swung open her 94 cavalier coupe door to fit in her bags of chips from loblaws in her back seat, because she's too lazy to put them in the trunk, feel free to park beside me in the back, taking up the next two spots beside me.

interesting. i don't use the double-park tactic because i agree with InTgr8r about those cars being an automatic target for vandalism, but i do take preventative measures to avoid door dings. shopping malls & grocery stores are usually the worst.
i try and park away from other cars in an empty area, or i park on the end of a row and crowd the outside to leave the car beside me with as much room as possible.
if neither of these options are available then i use my best judgement in picking which type of vehicle to park beside. i avoid coupes (long doors) and family vans & suv's. also POS beaters - that goes without saying. i look for late model cars that appear to be well-cared for. Vancouver has a lot of nice vehicles and fortunately my normal routine takes me to decent areas where people are somewhat conscious of what they are doing.
i know what i do is ****-retentive, but door dings and dents drive me crazy and take away from my enjoyment of my vehicles. they also destroy resale value.

i guess its only bad when you do it where every body wants to park, other then that i dont see a problem. some people might think those cars are targets for vandalism but one day when the wrong person sees you ruining their car theres gonna be big problems.
I do the same, I get in a bit of extra walking as a bonus.

Me 2. Some secluded corner where only one car can park beside me and I crowd the curb on one side.
I think you're faith in people is disturbingly low if you think your car is going to get vandalized if you park away from people and double park. I used to double park my sentra all the time but that's also with a Blkac car that I entered in shows and what not. Either way I think if someone's pissed cuz you're taking up 2 spots where no one wants to park screw them they're douchebags and just jealous of your car.

Double parking would attract too much 'attention'....
