Using 2 different brands of tires

Currently I have PS2's on my OE rims which I use as my spring tires. I have lot of tread left on my fronts, however my rears have about 3 mm left before they hit the tread wear indicator. As I only use these rims for the spring, therefore I do not want to fork out the $$$ for another set of PS2's for the rear. Can anyone recommend a cheap alternative I can use to replace my PS2?

I know its not recommend to mix brand, but if I do mix brands what are some of the known issues I would face?

Thanks
Peter

^ Using 2 different sets of tires has been known to sometimes trigger VDC for no reason.

I'm using 2 different brands for front/rear with no issues. But they're stock size.

Wouldn't it only be an issue if you went with a different size?
Our VDC is touchy if different thread design can trigger. Or is that an issue with all cars?

I just though tire shops/dealerships recommended 4 new tires to make extra $$$.

I've used two different tires front and rear many times with no issues. VDC can have problems if you have different diameter tires that are too far off from each other. The tire brand/tread style will not effect VDC.

It's not an ideal setup for performance but will work.

This website has awesome pricing.
I just bought OEM 19" tire sizes and saved $160 over the best pricing at the local shops.

Using ps2s up front and something "cheap" in the rear is not that great of an idea. Especially if the grip inbetween the two are very different. Using two comproable rated tires "might" be acceptable.

I'd try to buy two used PS2s so all four end wearing down at the same time. So you can buy 4 new tires at once. (vs constantly running two diff tires when you keep swapping only two)
