Those lying sacks at Telus Mobility...
...told me there was nothing I could do about my cracked Blackberry Curve screen (now it really is a 'crack'berry'
). When I took it back where I bought it, they said "Nothing you can do except live with it or upgrade." So I go online and search a little and find out I can fix it myself with a $7 part and 20 minutes' effort. Or less -- apparently you can pop the old one off and glue the new one on or you can take the BB apart and do it properly. Fargin' Telus lying bastidges.
Anybody done this? Apparently there's a place in DT T.O. that will do it for 30 bucks, while you wait. I think there's a place in NW Calgary too, but their kijiji ads scare me, looks pretty sketchy.
Of course it hoops my warranty, but if I do a good job they'll never know!

Is it the screen that's cracked or is it just the screen protector that's a part of the case?
You can do the job yourself and it's fairly simple but when you open it up you will probably void your warranty. I bought a new screen protector for my blackberry 8830 from a company based in Hong Kong along with several other parts when my track ball cratered.
You'll need a t-7 torx and a plastic pry tool if you don't want to damage the case. The screen protector is held on with double sided tape and seemed it like a bugger to take it off, so I decided to leave it alone as my screen wasn't actually broken but just lightly scratched. The replacement screen should come with new double sided tape, or it may be sold as an accessory.
If you're going to do it yourself I have the tools and tape.

if its just the screen protector its fairly easy to replace. either use a plastic pry tool like christian mention or a razor blade cause its thin enough, but with a razor blade u gotta be careful. the protector is only held on with double sided tape so u can easily loosen it up with a blow dryer, warm it up a bit and it will remove very easy.
ive done this many many times so i know its very easy to do.

I ordered my parts from www.cnn.cn, here's a link to the LCD lens for the Curve 8330:

They also sell parts for the Bold.

haha well if this helps anyone, I work at a TELUS dealer in Mississauga. I can try and hook everyone up, especially discounts on new activations.

So I ordered the replacement screen from Amazon (some 3rd party provider) and it came fairly promptly. Now after several months of procrastination, I took a shot at replacing the screen. So I warm it up with a hair dryer and the screen came off with relative ease. I only screwed up the 3M two-sided tape a little bit putting it on, then went to fit the new screen. It's TOO FAWKING SMALL!! Damn, I was so careful in ordering and I never dreamed they came in different sizes! So back on with the old cracked screen, using up my 3M tape in the bargain. Crapcrapcrap. I guess I'll just deal with it til March when I'm probably eligible to upgrade. Or maybe I'll switch providers if I can get a sweet deal.

Crappy to hear Wayne. I cracked my old Sony Vaio Laptop screen but was able to replace it with a ebay replacement. I was crapping bricks trying to disassemble it to get at the screen.
