Chicago Pics
I spent the day yesterday touring the downtown area of Chicago. I must say that I was very impressed with the city's downtown area. I found it to be very clean, lots of great architecture, and tons of things to do and see. It definitely wasn't like driving in New Brunswick, that's for sure. I am REALLY glad that my S2000 came with built in Navigation, or else I would of been completely screwed trying to find my way around.

Palm trees rise in Chicago area
By: Ed McKinley May 06, 2003
A Chicago-area native is bringing a touch of subtropical paradise to his hometown in the form of towering live palm trees — planted for the summer outside restaurants, car dealerships, car washes, miniature golf courses and private homes.
Alpha Palm Tree Rental in southwest suburban Homer Glen leases trees ranging from six feet high to a startling 24 feet for $450 to $1,000 for the five month season that began this month, says Wayne Baxtrom, Alpha general manager. The service launched this spring.
The company obtains the trees from nurseries around Homestead, Fla., and plants them for clients in the Chicago area. After watering, pruning and fertilizing them during the season, Alpha plans to dig them up in the fall and store them for the winter in glass-ceilinged warehouses in Alsip and Crestwood.
Nearly 100 customers have signed up so far – some for multiple trees – and Mr. Baxtrom expects to reach his target of leasing 1,000 trees this year.

Love the pics - they do the palm tree thing at the ball park in Peoria, IL, too, except I think they just get new ones every year.
I guess if it plays in Peoria... (come on, if I hadn't said it, Ian would have...)

Great pics Shane. It is a neat city and has special memories for me too. I've done the Chicago Marathon twice. Most recently it was my fastest marathon and perhaps the last one I'll ever do.
I hope you're enjoying the new ride.

Cool pictures though, chicago is a neat place, though my experience there consisted of driving straight through coming back with my G at night in a rainstorm.

Agree, Chicago has the best architecture in North America, even the burbs have classics. And thanks for bringing back some memories, stayed at the W across from the Pier once, pretty swanky but hey, it was on the company travel site!
