Who cares, we got Bouwmeester! Now if we could just ditch Phaneuf...

But srsly, I worry Heatley would be trouble. Never know, pretty interesting move.

The deal is dead apparently. Heatley wouldn't waive his "No Trade Clause". I thought he wanted to be traded?

Total BS that a player can ask for a trade and then expects to be traded where he wants.

Heatley has really trashed his rep with this whole thing.
I sure wouldn't want him!

Don't get me wrong, I don't completely agree with his tactics (or anyone else who does this and there have been many) BUT:

- He's just using the system to his advantage the same way a team/organization would against him if he did not have a no trade clause.
- Look at it this way...if you where looking for a new job somewhere, would you want your current employer telling you where you have to work?

It's entertainment to us but it's a career for them.

^ biggest issue is that he should have kept his mouth shut.
Leaking the info to the press, just screwed up the entire process, for him and the club.

I have been a huge Heatley fan since watching him play in the AJHL for the Calgary Royals. However he has shot himself in the foot big time. He is now stuck in ottawa with fans that will surly hate him. I think they should sit him in the press box for the first 10 games of the season or send him to the minors then see if he is willing to wave his no trade clause.

If a player can walk away from the last 5 years of a 6 year contract, the team should be able to walk away from the no-trade clause of that same contract. And the $4M bonus clause, too.
