Hey all... Well my meeting with Carlos from detail bliss went really well. He is certainly an enthusiast who enjoy's detailing for the pride and joy of a job well done rather than CASHOLA.

He was kind enough to answer all of my questions... even the really stupid ones. He assured me that all the problems I'm running into are normal.

We used a micron meter to look at the levels of clear coat that I"m working with. I have lots of clear coat!! He was shocked but he chocked it up to the pearl paint for that. He even suggested I fire up my PC and we try and see if we can work out some scratches right to the showroom shine I want. It turns out my problems were many fold... Most of all though I needed a more aggressive pad and I needed to work in smaller sections. I kinda figured as much but he confirmed it. We did 2 sections. One with my orange pad, and one with his old yellow pad with Power gloss. The power gloss section was considerably better after 1 pass. With a second pass we would have got 99% of the deep scratches out. (instead of 3 or 4 with the orange)

On top of all that he gave me the yellow pad for nothing since he never uses it and he even offered to lend me his halogen lights to help me. All this after talking to him for 1 hour!! What a guy I tell ya.

I decided not to take anymore of his time and left.

BUT!! before I left I talked to him about doing a "HOW TO" detailing meet with the calgary crew and he was totally down!

He even said that he has a place where he details fire engines that he could use for the meet.

So, You guys ask. I deliver! Let's make arrangements for a time and let's do our own detailing meet!

o guys, It is confirmed. I would like to suggest that we go to carlos's garage for this meet. He lives in evergreen and the lighting in his garage is awesome!! So, Saturday August 29th at 10:30am. Rather than meet up somewhere first I think we should all just meet at his place so we can get started by 11am. We will be coming from all over the city so this is probably best. Please bring any and all your equipment and detailing stuff. Everything from your shamwow, microfiber towels, to your polishing liquids and PC. Most importantly though. Start thinking about questions that you have about paint, detail, washing, drying, rims, tires, best practices, ect ect..

Shawn(GD-UP), I would suggest you volunteer for a test patch. I know your car needs it!!!

OK guys, there it is, I hope to see you all come out. Pass the word on to the rest of the members that have not chimed in that would be interested! I will do my best as well.

Seems like there are lot of great guys in the detailing industry.

 

OOHHHH MMMAAANNNN!!! I soo want to do this, but have to work that weekend (saterday til 6 and sunday til 5). If it works for all you guys, any chance we could do this the weekend after Sept 5/6?? If not, let's make this definite and I'll try switching my schedule around.

Those dates are proposed of course. I could do it next weekend...it's just a matter of carlos's availability. The sooner we can narrow down a date the sooner I can make arrangements with him!

How many people are going to come? Depending on how many people are involved we could do it in my garage. We would need a test vehicle, I could always use my Volvo but it would be nice to use something that has never been detailed. That way the people that do show up can take a stab at polishing with what ever product/machine they bring.
