LMAO, $70k For a Chev SSR???

LMAO. I was reading this article on Canadian Driver today regarding the SSR. I always thought this was one fugly vehicle, but up until today, I really had no idea how much they cost. According to the article, when they first came out, they cost $70k. LOL, wtf was Chev smoking?? I actually laughed out loud when I read that. It's no wonder why they are in such bad shape today!

Hmm, would I rather a Vette or an SSR?? Tough choice!

I kind of like the look of them.

BUT

Would I buy one ....NO...not even if it was $30,000 new.

That price they are asking is absurd

Unfortunately for Chevrolet, SSR sales did not meet expectations. No doubt one of the SSR’s main disadvantages was an initial price in the $70,000 (Cdn) range, perilously close to that of a Corvette. Chevrolet must have realized this was too high, and for 2005 it brought the price down to $60,000, and then for ‘06 to $50,000. In spite of this, SSR sales continued to flag and production ceased in March, 2006 after some 24,000 had been built. GM then closed the Craft Center.
thank goodness its no longer being made .. that thing doesnt look like its worth that much ..

off the top of my head id say a good 25 grand tops fully loaded ...

To me they even look cheap, like that HHR thing they made. I could see them more as an entry level vehicle with a 2.0L 4 cyl thats the only way i even see that vehicle making any sense at all.

not to mention huge...

...and hideous.

First time I saw one on the street I did a double take: first because I couldn't believe how big it was and again to chuckle.

Yeah, that's a good catch Shane. I never paid any attention to them. I would never have dreamed they were that kind of money originally.

Haha i think the real issue is not that they retail for 70 grand, but when you see one you know the person actually PAID 70 grand for it!
