It's best to charge battery with charger since unless you're doing a continuous long trip for many hours it won't get fully charged by the alternator.

The battery disconnect might take 12+ hours.

Shafty you need a good long recharge to bring the battery back to normal.
An overnight charge would suit it best. Don't forget to leave it disconnected from the car.
