g35xs Trade-in Value?

I've got a 2 year old 08 G35XS with all options 19,000km. Perfect condition, all maintenance done, etc. I am trading the car in for a 370z and the dealer offered me 29k. I have a feeling I am being low balled. Any ideas on what would be reasonable?

you gotta check the autotrader and see what they're going for...understand that the dealer will always offer you less than what they're selling for on autotrader (they need to make money).

usually trade in value is little bit better than selling them alone, since the profit margin for the 370z is huge for them, check out autotrader ..

It's hard to say when we don't know what you're paying for the Z vs. list.

I would concentrate on the difference between the two and not on the trade in value. Dealer is probably going to want to give you a true trade value of 3-5K less than retail for your car.

The car goes for high 30s on autotrader...

I am looking at a 2009 370z 6MT with 9k km all options. The sticker price they have for it is $43k, which is a bit high as well.

What I want is to pay $15k flat for the trade. Sticker price + tax is just shy of 49k, so they are basically offering me to pay $20k for the trade, which is a bit ridiculous IMO. Any opinions?

I'm not following all your numbers - 20K? 29K ? Z is sport and nav?

What is the difference the dealer wants? Your $15k difference all in sounds very reasonable if not generous. roughly 43k for Z less 30k for trade plus tax.

OOPS I was not aware tax is only paid on the difference. Almost offered them too much money.

Anyhow, got another dealership in the fight and price is coming down. Looks like I will pay under $15k.

Going to go test drive it later this week.

I think those are the key words. Let them know the difference you want to pay and that they can fiddle the numbers all they want, but that's the only number at which you will be a buyer.

^ +1. that's what i told a BMW dealer when i was considering a 335. they couldn't/wouldn't make my number work so i walked, but the delta price you are willing to pay is a good negotioating benchmark.

Well that's how it works here in NS> make sure it's the same in Ontario.

Good stuff on the competition. I think you'll be able to do better than 15 assuming the tax is only on difference.

Well, looks like I am getting a brand new 2010 6MT 370z with sport package and spending 18,500 flat. I hate dealerships

Carbon Silver. It will take 10-14 business days for delivery apparently.

Now comes the decision of whether I want to run the front license plate on this or not. I am already going to have illegal tints (15%) plus considering its a 370z there will be lots of cops looking at me so no front plate may be over the top a bit. Decisions decisions...
