Trials is a lot of fun, but too technical for me. I'm terrible at it... I prefer to go as fast as I can until i'm on the verge of wiping out and hope to back off in time. Not usually the case though...

im at 80K doing my rotors this week, should i change brake fluid?

 

When was the last time you changed it? If you're doing your rotors and it's been awhile since the fluids have been changed, I'd say change it.

 

i haven't done anything to the car besides regular oil changes

I'd say change your brake fluid too, especially if it looks dirty.

 

And maybe your cabin filter if you haven't done so. Diff oil due in another 20k.

 

i changed my cabin filter last summer, should I just go with oem brake fluid?

 

 

Any good DOT-3 Brake Fluid will do. Just buy it new and don't use an already-opened container.

I'm thinking of paint the holes and slots black or something so they don't rust, if i spray the whole rotor will this effect the pads any way when it strips the paint off the rotors? (Won't their be paint on the pads)?

My friend actually painted his holes using a brush and high heat bbq paint (because he didn't want to spary the entire surface of the rotors) but it didnt stick its already peeling off his rotors

 

Hmm, not sure what kind of paint would stand up to that heat, but there must be some because I've seen it done. IMO you should go to the trouble of painting the holes only OR mask off the rotor and cut out the holes for painting. I wouldn't paint the whole rotor unless you were prepared to wipe/emery paper it off afterward, which is as much or more work than masking and you run the risk of an uneven rotor surface if you sand off the paint.

Probably no getting around it. That's just a paint-unfriendly area.

 

There is high heat rotor paint, I used it on my rotors.

The issue is that the shavings on the contact part of the rotor sticks to the painted area and looks like rust. Really its a combo of metal shavings/brake dust. Its hard to keep clean and after a while it doesnt look much diff than a normal rotor.
