so mgfr's 4 yr bumper warranty is expiring in 20 days..what now..?
My bumper to bumper is expiring in 20 days or so.
- I have abt 50 K on the car. - I dont drive it aggressively that often - Baby it 90% of the time, have all regular maintenance work done. - Havent had any major issues, just had to replac the regular wear tear items like tires and brakes. so after asking the downtown infiniti dealership for extended warranty options, i was given 2: - $1900 or so for an additional 2 yrs, however the warranty is offered by a third party GMC. - $2500 or so for an additional 2 yrs, and this warranty is from infiniti so my question obliviously is, is it really worth it?.. i do buy the parts myself and have my mechanic put them on. on a side note, where can i get some literature as to what the power train waranty covers (i dont wanna ask the dealership).? thanks |
Skip the warranty and go FI. :D

If you are going to spend money on an extended warranty, then go with the Infiniti one for $600 more.

take the money and start modding.

Don't get the GMC $hit or what ever it is i had one of those and had a claim they have 10,000 loop holes they will catch you with. Go with Infiniti or keep the money you have $1300 a year for repairs before your behind, thats alot of repairs.

Isn't the powertrain warranty 7 years, 110k anyways? Thats what it was with my G35, and I got my tranny replaced when it was 5 years old with 85k on it. If you have the same powertrain warranty, I wouldn't bother buying the extended warranty.

+1.......Save your money -- You've still got 3 years of P/Train warranty to lean on. C. |
+2. don't bother with the extended warranty. the powertrain is a good warranty, and that's the important thing. it's 6 years/110K.
before your bumper-to-bumper warranty expeires go over your car with a fine-tooth comb. take it in to the dealer to address any outstanding issues. i took mine in with 3 days left of b-to-b warranty and had ~$2300 worth of work done: driver seat rocking & power control, fuel gauge sending unit, minor heater core leak, a few loose/missing parts, and a couple more items i forget about. i also made sure to exhaust my powertrain warranty (recently expired) and had a bunch of $tuff done just before it was up. valve covers were one of the big last-minute items. i had the tranny/clutch replaced under warranty back in '08. |
don't buy extended warranty, on anything. period.

i was gonna say the same thing as canucklehead said... once that's done, you'll be good for a while (finger cross)

thanks for the feed back guys..
i will be first taking my car to my mechanic to go thru it thoroughly to try and find any outstanding issues (that i can get it covered under the warranty)...have already dropped a hint @ the dealership of the rear axle clicking sound..(im sure i saw a TSB on it on this forum). as for the windows and seat relay switches that have the tendency to crack..i guess i cant do much until some thing actually happens (like the seat been unable to recline or decline).... any thing else i should look for...? Will be replacing my drive belts and a drain / refill on the transmission fluid... was actually on the wall for a while deciding between a full transmission flush or a simple drain and refill, but in the end decided to go with a simple drain and refill job..just mite do it twice to get in as much new fluid as i can... |
I am actually in the same boat and looking at extended warranties. I have found extended warranty from warranty direct and endurance extended warranty; both used by dealers...They are about $2000 for 4-5 years coverage or 100k miles..Endurance is bumper to bumper for $2k and I really cant make up my mind about getting it or not...

Compression rods? Check em! or replace em... You'll thank me later!

If you have oil consumption, you might want to consider an extended warranty.
