Porter Cable at it again - Single Stage Paint

So i compounded a 93' MX5 this weekend. Much different than G's and newer vehicles; instead of a clearcoat and colour its a single stage paint. Honestly, I blew my own mind with the results on this one. The paint had not been touched in 17 years. The owner has 68k on the vehicle. 17 years of swirls and scratches.

Things I noticed: I was using the 105 and 205 with the PC. The 105 doesnt give the results initially as they would on a clearcoat I found. But after I did a pass with the 205, it was unbelievable. The only issue with single stage paint is essentially you're taking off a very fine layer of paint, and some vehicles paint isnt thick. I did however find that one spot that was really bad, i did two passes with the 105 and it took out even the deepest of scratches. I was a bit nervous but after reading on a ton of forums and asking some profession detailers I found it was still safe to compound a single staged car.

This one took me 7 hours. My G took me 10, and ive done a couple 4 door sedans that took me about the same time.

Nice. Well it came out looking 1000000x better! Did you use the yellow pad to start or orange? I would guess the yellow judging by the depth of the swirls. And your compound/polish brand is Menzerna?

I used this squence:

Meguires wash
Meguires clay bar and cleaner wax
Meguires 105 compound on yellow pad
Meguires 205 compound on orange pad
Meguires wash
Meguires 3 step wax and seal with white pad (Only steps 2 and 3)
Hand buff

I Only used the 105 on the hood and truck. The sides werent as bad and only required to 205. I wanted to take off less paint as possible.
