Calgarians - Gas Mileage

I'm curious what some of you are getting roughly for a tank. I fill up with about 1/4 of a tank left, costs about 60 bucks. I get about 400km to that point, straight city driving. Highway is great, according to my NAV I had it at ~8L/100km - that's better than our 4 banger CRV on the highway! City I'm at 14-15L/100km. Ya sometimes I gun it but not that often. Is this normal mileage? I didn't buy a sports car for great fuel economy, but it seems something may be off rather than complaining about cost to fill. ECU reset help at all with this? So far, I've only filled up at Shell.

I've been noticing what feels like a slight misfire recently, I have my suspicious it could be oil on one of the plugs and coilpack causing a weaker connection between the two which may be resulting in below average fuel economy. I only notice it at idle. It feels like a somewhat rumbling/jerking at about every 0.5-1s intervals fairly consistently - driving around I can't feel or notice a thing. Stock air filter was just change. With 24 000km, I'd imagine the plugs are fine. I'm going to change the plugs to iridiums regardless when I get back from the field in a couple weeks so hopefully that will shed some light on a possible misfire issue...I'm **** about knowing when things were changed last

Matt

Well I track my fuel online.
So my current average is

13.7L/100km, so around 400km per tank.. It has decreased a tad though over the course of the summer, so I will likely do my spark plugs and perhaps do the cleaning and reoiling of my air filter.

The sad fact is that our cars are not great on gas. I don't think there's anything wrong with your mileage, Matt, though the misfire is another matter and I'll let the experts comment on that.

What site do you use?
Is that 13.7 mainly city driving?

^ I think it's too early for you to be doing math, Gord. Don't you mean 44L/100km?

in my Z i typically get 9.8-10.0L/100km in the city driving to work and what not and then on the high way i get about 8.4L/100km. the worst i have ever seen my car is 12.8 and that was some rather spirited driving. typically when i pull upto the pump i just look at my trip meter multiply by 1.10 to 1.15 and thats about what im going to be paying to fill back up. last time i let my car go til warning light came on i did just over 550km's. i reallyy dont think there would be that much of a difference between our cars.

i am really curious about the 370z/g37 and what kind of mileage they achieve.

jonny_q - that's pretty amazing city mileage. Thats close to what most of us would get highway driving. Is your commute at a steady 60-80km/hr pace or stop&go urban traffic?

The website is http://www.fuelly.com. You can use it from your phone and such aswell so it is pretty convenient, along with comparing to similar cars.
I suppose so, I do drive quite a bit on the bigger roads with less lights so it is almost in between city and highway.

i work out in the SE edge of town but live downtown so my commute in the morning is mostly crusing but coming home is usually stop and go down glenmore and crowchild. i am sure it will get worse as fall comes.

i am not from calgary but seems like most of you guys' fuel consumption seems identical to GTA (i think our traffic is way much worse)

the worse i got in a city driving is 380km (spirited driving with manual shifter)

the best i got was recently i got 720km (with 3/4 maybe 3.5/4 full tank because of my gas cap doesnt let me to fill it up exactly usually either a quarter or half of quarter tank is still empty when nozzle ticks) when the light was on, could have gone another 50km easily.
but it was all highway 115-117km/h cruise and some accelerations.

there's huge difference when our cars are on highway, and especially 5ATs why would the car goes 110-115kms when the rpm is around 2500, isnt this too high???(compared to i drove a POS 2010 impala , it was doing 1700rpm on that same speed)

I told my wife how dumb her sister was because she could never figure out that less L/KM is better. But it also took me 15min to explain it to her and she was still arguing with me and she is a 40 year old school teacher. My excuse is the new job is killing me I am so far behind on sleep anyway i have the G in Calgary now...might go cruise tonight see if I can find some trouble.

I calculated my mileage once earlier this summer and I think I got 12.7 L/100km and that is mostly zipping around SE Calgary.

I think it is probably worse since I installed my Z tube... on ramps and 6500 rpm probably aren't great for mileage , but they are good for putting one of these on my face... . Once I get a mid-pipe look out .

get TTs and see the abuse the gas milage takes, now it takes 15psi to give me one of these
