Caffeine Withdrawal

well never heard of it till tuesday one of the doctor i saw in the clinic thought the reason for my headaches almost every week once, sometimes twice for the last 3-4 years is because of caffeine withdrawal.

symptoms are way worse for others, when i start digging deep. never thought not drinking my coffee was the whole reason.

i usually drink 1-3 coffee a day every day during working days and dont on my off days, it starts with a headache which takes u all day, no matter how many pain killers you take it will continue.

just wanted to share this, i think caffeine is this century's legal drug, and our culture kind of breeds this.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. Glad I don't drink much coffee.

Hope you work it out though, are you going to try and cut coffee out of your routine?

i think initially i am going to decrease it to once a day rather than depriving myself. and then try every other day/3-4 times a week, and eventually switch all the way to teas.

Nice! I wish you luck.

I've never picked up a habit or addiction that I've had to kick, but I know second hand they suck big time. (ex girlfriend and smoking=fail)

mustafa, I know if I have too much coffee without eating then I will get a headache or upset stomach.
Hope you get it straightened out.

I drink around 4 cups of java a day and 2 cups of green tea.

So do you get the headaches on the days you don't drink coffee?

exactly, even that day if i drink coffee little bit later than normal (like 10am rather than 8am) that's enough to trigger my headaches.

Thanks for the wishes, actually this sunday i woke up early and have a coffee right away, i didnt have any headaches for the whole sunday. It's so nice to watch sunday football and have no headaches

my plan is to make my body not dependant to coffee and it will eventually wear off the effects.

Makes sense. I have two fairly large cups of made-at-home Timmies each morning and I get pretty cranky if I miss it. I avoid the side effects by always having my coffee, including weekends, LOL! No question in my mind that it's an addictive substance.

If you're going to try to wean yourself off the caffeine gradually, might I suggest switching to instant coffee? Yes, I know - coffee snobs everywhere are gasping in horror/outrage......but the thing is, instant has about half the caffeine of brewed coffee. It's a compromise, but in all honesty, I've grown to prefer it - I've got the ratio down to a fine art, something I could never seem to master with brewed...

Not to mention - tea is for pvssies...

J/K (sort of)...
