The sealant is very close to the melting point of the plastic.

There have been a few that ended up with a pile of plastic goo, after attempting it.

The only other way is to get a couple of donor lights and do the chop method.
Wow I wouldn't even think its worth doing.

^ I always thought BMW lights were meant to open up easily with clips?

My buddy's M3 lenses open right up on the car, apparently in order to service the halos.

I guess that's not the case anymore.

Yeah, that's the one I used. It worked really well, eh? Thanks for that.

Yeah, IIRC the E46 3ers were the last ones to do that.

Make sure you keep some wax on there to stop the the oxidation this summer.

Aman and I are going to attempt carbon bezels with 3m DI noc vinyl, not sure how it will turn out but we'll see!

Edit;

Ian, I'll look into it. The QX56 lights are similar to what you've explained and they were a nightmare!
If I keep the wax on, it won't be as shiny. You still think I should keep some wax on?

If you wax it and buff it off correctly it should stay shiny.

What wax are you using?

Yeah that's what I did, but you said keep some wax on so it won't oxidize as much. I'm using the headlight restorer solution that John showed me (from Canadian Tire).

Swarovski foo! And yes, that's one of the ideas I had. Instead of halo's i'd line up with swarovski's. Maybe I can put that inside the projector too. Hrmm....
