Boxing day 2010

hi guys, i just want to create this thread for boxing day deals, G/non G related.

www.redflagdeals.com should be the site to visit, they already started putting boxing day specials and flyers.

first impression HDMI cables are on sale, TVs are mainly, i saw bestbuy have sony projector(highly recommended if you are into this, the resolution is surprisingly high)

Let's share some specials if you have seen any.

This might be great for some people but I drive the opposite way from the stores on Boxing Day and Holidays. I don't need the line-ups, parking hassles, and mass confusion associated with this. I would rather spend an extra buck or two instead of putting myself through that abuse.

I apologize for this Mustafa, on with the Deals

+1 I'd even rather spend many more bucks than deal with all that non sense.

AH you guys either have too much cash laying around or your really starting to show your age, I agree waiting in line in the cold for 2+ hours to get that good deal is beyond my shopping limits but there are good deals to be had on Boxing day you just have to do your homework, most of the stores have Boxing week sales so going on the actual day is a waste and some pretend to have good sales to take advantage of people's buying high (like stores in the Mall). Me being the deal hunter I've bought numerous things on Boxing day and have been happy with my purchases but if I see a lineup out the store I keep on walking.

^haha, maybe you're right on the age thing but definitely not on the too much cash.

I do very little shopping at any time and I'm happy to leave the "deals" to someone who wants to endure the malls & stores at this time of the year. I'm trying to get rid of stuff and not buy more things anyhow!

Just a tip for the TV hunters, grab all the Boxing day flyers and go to The Brick they will match the prices so you'll get the same deal and not have to wait in any lineups. I wanted a TV from Future Shop and they sold out by the time I got there I passed buy the Brick later that day and told the sales guy there prices sucked compared to the other Electronic stores he told me they would match the prices, he went on the Future Shop website called up the flyer and beet it by $50. one thing it has to be the same model #.

That is a good idea, I got some cash for Christmas so I am going to find a 55-60" for $1,500-1,800 so I might have to gather some flyers. I wonder if they beat the door crashers deals.
What should I look for 1080p and 600hz were the things I was looking for, I don't want real fancy just pretty basic. I never even watch HD channels so that should be enough for me.....other things you guys think that is important that I look for or make sure the tv has? Thanks for any help guys. Ok upon a little reserch 600hz is for plasma and 120-240 is LCD and only makes a difference when watching soprts or gaming? Also what do you guys go with LCD or Plasma it will be in my basement that is low to medium light.

Thanks for any help you guys can give i have done some reserch but I am stuck at the inlaws and I can hear people asking asking where i am already so it wont be long before the wife puts 2+2 together and relises I am hiding in the basement on the net

I don't think my wife is looking forward to boxing day.....I have anger management issues and I hate people in general so it should be interesting!!! I might need the $1,500 for bale money.

^^ LOL at hiding in the basement.

JMO but I would probably opt for plasma in the basement; the only reason I have an LED/LCD in mine is I won it! Yes on faster response times/refresh rates generally = better viewing for sports. Even if you don't watch HD channels, I think getting a TV that can handle them is good since eventually ALL channels will be HD. Besides, I'm not sure you can even buy a large TV that's less than 1080p these days.

EDIT: there's a 50" 720p plasma at BB for 700 bucks!! So they can be had...

I have one big complaint on Plasma TVs, they give off a lot of heat I have a Panasonic Viera Plasma it is excellent except it emits a lot of heat and I will not get a plasma next time for that reason.

I have also read that they take 1/3 more power to operate, if that is a concern To some people
