I like these. How bout you?

New Michelin Tires... Absolutely SCARY looking... Look for 'em in August.

These tires are made in South Carolina, USA .

SEE THROUGH TIRES!

Radical new tire design by Michelin.
The next generation of tires.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

Yes, those are 'spoke' like connections to the inner part of the tire from the outside tread 'wrap!' The next picture shows how odd it looks in motion...

Makes you wonder how the ride feels, doesn't it?

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.

Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D. no more flats...
These are actual pictures taken at the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

I've seen/heard of these. Brilliant, really, too bad they are so ugly, LOL!! Imagine the gradations of stiffness -- radial and lateral -- you could build into that sort of construction.

I can't imagine they'd bring them to market if they weren't as good or better than pneumatic tires. Going to be a tough enough sell as it is based on looks. I predict they will add a sidewall.

LOL, maybe a black sidewall. Hey wait, I've already got three sets of those.
I'd like a ride/drive in a car that had them. Look freeky. I'd get a set when the price comes down.

Can't imagine trying to clean them. I'm sure snow/ice would easily set them out of balance.

Why more than on current tires. Splain it to me.

Ahhh, I took another look at the pics. The first time around I thought the sidewalls were clear. Now I see, no sidewalls. These wouldn't be my winter shoes anyways. Change em out in Oct. sometime. It'll be quite a while until these come down to my snack bracket.

Excellent point, another reason to add sidewalls.

@redpearl - As far as being able to adjust the tire's handling by varying air pressure, I don't think that will affect 98% of tire buyers who never/rarely check their pressure anyway. But if they ever catch on if the performance market, you could probably order tires tuned (constructed) to match your car/driving style.

These could also save huge $$ on wasted gas, I shudder to imagine how much is wasted annually due to underinflated tires...
