Why are we getting ripped off sooooooo hard?

OEM spark plugs at a Toronto Napa store = $27 each
Exact same thing at a Buffalo Napa store = $9.99 each

Wix Napa gold oil filter in toronto = $16
Exact same thing in Buffalo = $8

i'm really starting to get sick and tired of this BS, our dollar is worth more than theirs so our products should cost less

so now i have to drive over the boarder again next week

our free healthcare doesnt really explain the 3X price of spark plugs up here, that's too big of a difference, plus most of that is paid other forms of taxes like our income tax.

the price diff is very significant. i buy essentially all planned purchases from the US and have them shipped to a depot just across the border. everything from wine cellars and household items to car parts - including my g37 - are fractions of the cost when bought from the US.

of course i'll do a bit of research first to make sure it pays to buy online, but usually the answer is yes. i'd love to buy from Canadian retailers but unless the price delta narrows, or i win the lottery, i just can't justify paying 2-3X the cost for the exact same item. living within 40mins of the border makes it a no-brainer.

i have declared everything at the border and not once have i had to pay border taxes (except for the g37). my totals are usually less than $400 each crossing.

That is what I call greed/capitalism.

The only time I will buy in Canad is if I am down and out or stranded and can not wait a few day. This never happens though.

I think you're getting Toronto'd from behind. Pretty sure a Wix is only about 8-9 bucks at my local NAPA/similar here in Calgary.

I too am pissed about buying parts in Canada or shipped to my home, it's expensive. So I tried picking them up from the border which is only 1hr away. So far I crossed the border with springs, a catback exhaust and an AIT TS G37 front lip. I didn't have to pay any taxes on anything so far. From now on, everything will be shipped to the border lol

Dealerships have retail, wholesale and employee pricing. Of course they gonna charge retail for the parts.

The spark plugs were cheap at CDN tire, I think I paid 7.99/pair for the NGK ones that the car comes with.

For the Wix filter, try Carquest. I was getting the top of the line one there (guessing same as the NAPA gold) for about $8-10.

there is no way the NGK PLFR5A11 was sold at CT for $8 a pair. I say this because the OEM plugs only come in single packs and not in pairs. There is another type of NGK platinum plug that's 1/2 price but it's not the oem plugs, make sure you bought the right plug

Yeah, you're right. I got the "G-Power" ones instead of "V-Power". Still haven't opened them yet, so I guess I might return them. Don't know how I managed to miss this!

But yeah, on the topic of being ripped off in Canada. I couldn't agree more. It's ridiculous.

There is a UPS store in Buffalo I use to get things shipped to. They will charge $5 for every shipment that they hold for you. If it's not urgent, then I just wait until I need to buy a few things at once, order in, and make a trip to get them picked up plus go do some shopping. Shipping within US is often free or a lot cheaper, so it makes it worthwhile.

If you guys are looking for plugs, why don't you just get them via eBay, I got 6 NGK Iridium IX plugs for under $50 shipped to my door.
