The number of people really surprised us as well.
Talking to some of the locals, they say the numbers have been down since the economy went south.
We loved Sintra, it was one spot that was busy with people.
We missed the Palace. There was a little miss communication and by the time we figured it out, there was too little time to get up there.
"which place stood out?"
Hard to say, each place was so different and had something special.
Seville was definitely a highlight and probably the one place that we didn't have nearly enough time.

I agree about Seville. It's such a gorgeous city with oodles of beautiful architecture. The catherdal in Seville is massive and the huge solid gold altar is mind boggling. I found Seville to be extremely clean as well. Anissa and I loved Seville so much Ava's middle name is Sevilla.
Glad you and P had a great trip!

The only tax/fees on top of the $599 is the $296. So the total would be $895 everything included. Not too bad for airfare/apartment/rental car.

Understood. I really loved the $599 but then saw the fine print for the extra 49%+
Still a good deal for decent place for sure. Not sure about airfare to TO but aside from that it would be hard to get much better anywhere. Maybe we'll do a trip to Portugal/Italy in the coming years. Seeing pics from you and Ian certainly help.

great pics. i honeymooned in Spain/Portugal in May 2009. we rented a car in Madrid and did a big 3-week loop down through Granada to Cadiz, then over to the Algarve - Albuferia being our first stop. we actually enjoyed the Algarve the most - some awesome little towns along the way including Nazare. great food and wine choices.
we also stopped at Sagres and i tried land sailing since it is so windy; pretty fun stuff! our little VW Polo held up well on the high-speed toll highways, although many a Porsche or BMW blew by us at well over 180km/h.
