I sent in a series of questions to Ray Paulsen at allexperts.com regarding my situation. His website, www.usedcartips.org, looks a bit dated but I found it to be pretty informative so I thought I'd see what he had to say.

The conversation can be found here:

The responses were very fast and as you can see, he actually took the time to call one of the dealers himself for me. Overall, I was quite pleased with the help.

^the help you got was good to see.

I agree with the others. You're probably on the low side of price for a good car.

Hello again,

Just wanted to ask a few more questions:

1) What annual maintenance costs should I expect to pay?

2) What are repair/replacement costs for typical G35 coupe problems?

3) Are any 'extended warranty's' worth the cost?

Thanks again for the help everyone!

2005 Laser red coupe, 6mt, 65,000kms. Bought it 3 years ago. Asking price $29,000, was on sale for $27,000. Negotiated $25,000 or $24,500 with trade in. This was at Campus Infiniti Nissan. Hope this helps. As far as maintenance is concerned, prepare to open your wallet. My driver door motor just died, my buddy, who owns his own shop, couldn't find a an aftermarket product, the dealer charges $360 for the motor, he got it for me at $300. Hid bulbs, I paid $80 for 1. Gotta pay to play! Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. Every little bit helps!

I've decided to increase my price range to about $20-$24k and not necessarily seek out just an '07. I've even found a few promising leads on Craigslist and Auto Trader once again.

Another question; does anyone have advice/warnings on buying through private sale? What extra taxes and fees are associated with it?

Cheers,

Shaun

Most important, IMO...check for Leins on the vehicle.
