Dynolicious Phone App

I read up on this app today and decided to get it for my iPhone (also available for your berry guys, not sure if its phone specific though).

It apparently accurately gives you HP, G and Speed values. It'll even give you your quarter mile times and such.

http://www.bunsentech.com/projects/dynolicious/

This is the iTunes description

As seen in Car & Driver, Road & Track, Grassroots Motorsports, and the New York Times.

So you've already got a sweet ride... now you can measure just how sweet it is. Dynolicious uses the iPhone's built-in accelerometer to measure you vehicle's 0-60 acceleration, quarter mile elapsed time, horsepower, lateral G's, and several other performance metrics. A history of test results for your car are saved, so averages and trends can instantly be retrieved. Dynolicious also allows you to record modifications made to your car, and to evaluate the resulting gains (or losses) in power and performance.

Dynolicious has been track-tested at a major dragstrip against regulation timing equipment, and has demonstrated accuracy comparable to standalone performance meters which cost hundreds of dollars.

Dynolicious has support for both US and International units of measurement, including MPH or km/h speeds, lb or kg weights, and HP or kW power figures.

Post your results to Facebook and Twitter to impress your friends!

Whether you're a serious tuner or a casual enthusiast, you'll find the feature-rich and easy-to-use Dynolicious is both a valuable tool and fun car toy.

Dynolicious is intended for experienced drivers in a suitable location. Always obey traffic laws.
This app costs $13 and is a virtual everyday Dyno. From a physical point of view it makes sense, you enter the weight of your car and it measures your speed and force on the accelerometer in the phone.

Force= Mass x acceleration (Newtons)
Work=Forcexdistance (Joules)
Power = Work/s (Watts or HP)

Apparently it has outperformed some expensive equipment.

highly recommend!

Bosch put out a free app that does timed runs for you using the iPhone's motion sensors. Click the pic to go to the download page...

i've been using dynolicious on and off. it's fairly accurate, not 100% but close enough for casual user.

Just downloaded it, now I'm guessing I need to put the weight of my 08' G sedan S in the program? where would I get an accurate weight of my car? what % do I put for drive train loss?

Go to a highway weigh station (not during rush hour) and sit on the scale. That should show you within 100lbs of the weight.

^ really? I thought it would not be accurate since the G weight is so much less then the 18 wheelers

Same scale they use at a dump or scrap metal recycler... I think if one is so concerned about accuracy, the Dynoliscious might not be the test and tune tool of choice.

Haha. Anyone who expects accuracy from a phone is in for a suprize. The only way you could get anything 'accurate' is by taking the average of 20 different runs. Still not likely to be close to bang on.

^Dude I'm sure most of us aren't expecting perfect numbers, I agree if your racing competitively your not going to use a program like this app......but how many of us here ARE COMPETING in events????? This is just a fun tool like the G-Tech (which is less accurate! see link
)

If I can have an idea what my car runs even if its a half second off that's fine with me, and if the HP is off by a few that's fine to. If you want to be accurate go to the track on a regular basis and spend hundreds at the Dyno if your that concerned.
