Heard by email from our friend Sam (Whatacar) today and he asked that I post these sad pics of his poor G (an 04 Coupe with 165k) that was involved in an accident yesterday in Waterloo (University and Erb).

I haven't talked to him yet and will soon but he wanted these pics posted here for him since he was having trouble logging in.

He's concerned of course about the G and the damage and if anyone can estimate its value.

He says his kneecap is smashed and will be operated on tomorrow -- other than that I have nothing else to report (yet)..

Thankfully he appears to have come thru the incident ok tho he'll be very unhappy about his car.

I'll contact soon when he's available and report back ASAP.
Hopefully he'll also be able to log in and touch base with everyone himself too.

If you have any 'guestimates' of damage or value on the banged up G or what to expect from the Insurance company, please post here and I'll relay the info to him until he can log in himself.

I'm hoping and praying that Sam is otherwise ok. I'm sure you are too.

Cheers,

your old friend Colin.

Thanks for posting Colin, the car parts sure flew pretty far. Glad Sam and hopefuly the other lady are going to be alright. I heard the accident report on the radio but obviously had no idea it was Sam.

Hey guys,

just got off the horn with Sam and he's pretty banged up but otherwise ok....His knee is smashed and needs an operation probably Tuesday after the swelling goes down some.
His daughter who was with him is ok too other than some bruising and stress.

He (and I) are very pleased that the G did its job of protecting them yesterday tho it looks very much like it cost the G its life. Sad, but it can be replaced later. -- Sam could never be replaced.

More soon as I learn more, and Sam can log in here for updates himself.

Thank God for decent cars --

Wow, that looks really bad! Hope Sam gets through alright.

The G looks totaled, I think you'd be lucky if you can get an intact motor out of that.

Yeah, looks bad for sure, but he said maybe 3 of the wheels are ok (and they're nice wheels) and hopefully some parts and bits and pieces, pending what he arranges with the insurance.

If anyone can guess as to what an '04 Coupe with 165k would be worth - he'd like a heads-up on what the insurance offer will be.

More soon,
Colin.

Wow, I hope you are ok. I am sorry to say, but without a doubt, that G is totaled.

That man needs a smart phone so he can update in the hospital

I don't think they want people using cell phones in the hospital... the last time I was at Stanford Medical, they repeatedly asked me to turn off my phone!

Thanks for the wishes guys. You actually do see the air bags deploy in slow motion. Yeah, the G is a write off and I'll be talking with the adjuster on Mon.
I'll keep you posted.
