Hi guys (and hopefully some girls too),

Just thought I'd drop a quick line and introduce myself. I browse the forum quite a bit while at work and so you'll be seeing my user name a lot more often now that I'm officially a member AND owner.

I first initially joined the forums a couple years ago when I first began my hunt for a G35. It took nearly two years but I've finally pulled the trigger and picked up my 2007 IP G35C last Saturday. The car is M6 and has ~86K on the clock. Canadian car with clean title - no real blemishes to speak of either. Good things happen to those who wait . The car is stock right now and will be for the foreseeable future. I will probably start off with some smaller mods next summer...

My old car was/is a 2002 Protege 5 which I intend on keeping as a winter beater until something major goes wrong at which point I'll probably part it out. Its been reliable over the years but I lost a lot of interest in it when the rust began to form and so it was time to move on to bigger and better things.

I don't where/when local meets take place, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for them and hopefully get the chance to meet some of you fine people.

I'll leave you with a few pics of my P5 when it was at its best. The only thing that I did since these pics were taken was black out the side markers. I'll post up pics of the Infiniti next time I am able to steal my girlfriend's DSLR for a quick photo shoot.

Cheers for now,

Erik

Eh there- sounds like you and MXWizard have the same car- almost exactly! I'm not 100% about the M6 or if that 6 was supposed to be its neighbour "T" but it's a beautiful looking car.

Any initial ideas for modding out the car? I see you don't plan on it... but I might add some of the initial ones are downright cheap in the marketplace... make sure you get familiar with it!

I was (am) VERY (AWFULLY) green with the car when I first came in here and a few guys (including 4DGS) took me by the hand and helped me along. I probably burned up all their patience, however, sorry about that!

Lots of stuff going on all over the place... but don't be afraid to throw an event out there. SOMEONE has to start it and the last minute mini / nano meets have been a big hit lately in many areas.

Welcome!

What the hell did Mazda use for metal when they built that car?? I know 2 people that bought that car new and after 3-4 years rust started forming on the car!!! they must have borrowed metal from Chrysler.

That car looks very familiar. I know I've seen pics of it before - can't say I know or have met the driver though. That is a badass pic and your friend's P5 looks to be tastefully modded. Some of the cars on my past forum were an absolute joke...which is another reason why I jumped ship - but to each their own I suppose.

I'll do my best to avoid asking dumb questions LOL. I'm usually pretty good at using the Search function

I'm going to keep my eyes peeled in the Canadian Classifieds section. 1st thing that has to be done is the clear corners lol. Apart from that I'm just thinking of adding some breather mods - probably a Z-tube and some HFCs or a catback that will provide an added growl. Once the rubber runs out I'll probably get some rims too. I'm a huge fan of the Vossen CV2's (although by the time I decide to buy rims I'll probably have moved on to a different style).

Once I get rims I'll probably look into lowering the car and getting some spacers to make it look even more flush. What do most people do for suspension on the Gs? Lowering springs and heavy duty struts or coilovers? Maybe I'll go the cheap route and just cut my springs... LOL J/K.

Cosmetically, I'd like to get the trunk that kind of looks like it came off the rear of a BMW M6. Does anybody know which one I'm talking about? The make/model would definitely help.

Agreed. Worst metal ever. I was quoted just shy of $3K to fix both rear fenders a couple years ago. Its at this point that I began my search for a G35.

That trunk is either the MG2 or the StrafeSpeed. I'm going to guess Strafe though. They're a vendor here. (tell em I sent you, that'll rustle their feathers lol)

As for the suspension, always do coils. Don't waste time with springs. If you need coils sooner rather than later send me a message and I'll hook you up.

thats the hikkadori trunk. strafe has a more pronounced and independent lip, not flowing as smooth as that.
