I used to work in Alaska, I would have stayed in Seattle if I were you the cruise would likely be nice and a few days in Alaska would be ok beyond that.....

Well I have to say:

1) the cruise is for S's parents
2) a cruise ship is a floating sales pitch
3) it rains. A lot.
4) see 2&3
5) expecting 9 hours of rough seas tonight
6) see 2&3 above

Loved it when we made the trek years ago aboard the Dawn Princess.

Have fun.

We were on the swimming pool deck earlier on and watched it turn into a wave pool and empty itself all over the deck. The motion was: pitch right, pitch back, pitch left, pitch forward - repeat until completely agitated.

But - one of several hundred waterfalls while traversing the Tracy Arm en route to the Saywer Glacier

And - Sawyer Glacier at the moment of calving:

And - White Pass & Yukon Railroad (sea level to 6000' in 21 miles). This shot is across the valley, 400' lower, watching another train disappear into a tunnel:

My daughter got a little seasick when we cruised to the Bahamas, can't imagine what would happen in that swell. And at least it was always sunny on deck!
